I’m glad they added the “current in hospital” statistic, that provides some clarity.

It’s good to know the county is providing us with more details.

Contra costa county has about 1,700 staffed hospital beds (with many more being added) and 31 of these beds are covid-19 cases. Only About 2%.

So far so good…

I sure hope our health department is doing the rigorous contact tracing needed to reduce new infections. With only around 20-30 new cases a day, contact tracing should be top priority.

So far, so good.
Fingers crossed over the next 2 weeks!

There was also a press release today about adding a temporary 250 bed medical station in Richmond. https://cchealth.org/press-releases/2020/0402-Craneway-Pavilion-in-Richmond.php

Thanks! Awesome that we are finally getting some much needed data. 276 cases but only 31 in the hospital is great news, that means that 245 of the infected are more than likely mild in nature. That is my optimistic view at least.

Wish they would say which cities wwhre patients are from and dates of when they began treatment

It will be interesting to learn how many people have actually been exposed/infected by this virus but remain symptom-free. And of those with severe symptoms, how many had multiple health challenges, used vaping products, etc…

We will only know the answers after a great deal of data collection and analysis. Hopefully, we will still have an economy to return to when it is all over!

With reports of 80% of new infections originating from contact with asymptomatic individuals, we need massive testing to get the most comprehensive picture of what we are truly facing.

Just be thankful that you don’t live in a state like FLORIDA where Governor DeSantis kept the beaches, restaurants, and hotels open until finally enacting a “Stay at Home” order this week . . .

Or in Georgia where the dumbest Governor in the Country announced yesterday that he just found out that Covid-19 can be transmitted asymptomatically.

Never mind that the CDC is in Atlanta right down the road from the state capital.

Too bad you cant arrest anyone for stupidity and incompetence.

CJRN April 3, 2020 - 9:03 AM - 9:03 AM

Mike Wagner, if we were able to arrest people for stupidity and incompetence our jails and prisons would be overflowing and many of the “guests” would be elected officials.
Actually, not a bad idea!

New York State of Mind April 3, 2020 - 9:04 AM - 9:04 AM

I’m thankful that I don’t live in New York City.
It’s too bad that de Basio can’t be arrested for stupidity and incompetence.

Strad April 3, 2020 - 8:50 AM - 8:50 AM

Just seen on CNN. 562 people died in last 24hrs in New York Gov says.. Getting real bad.

Jaydub April 3, 2020 - 12:39 PM - 12:39 PM

According to my math less than 7% of the people tested are positive. I figured that with the rigorous stipulation on who gets testedThat number would be much higher. Is this because first responders/ Hospital workers are tested as often as they wish?? With the shortages of tests available I just can’t get my head around that number
