The Calfornia Franchise Tax Board has postponed the deadline for filing tax protests, appeals and refund claims due to the novel coronavirus pandemic until mid-July.

State Controller and Franchise Tax Board Chair Betty Yee announced the deadline extension Monday, a few weeks after Gov. Gavin Newsom issued an executive order to “provide extensions of time to individuals and businesses affected by complying with state and local public health officials’ imposition or recommendation of social distancing measures related to COVID-19.”

Among the items the new deadline applies to are filing, payment, audits, billing, notices, assessments and claims for refunds, It also gives taxpayers relief from penalties and interest.

Note that it says: businesses affected by complying with state and local public health officials’ imposition.
NO mention of those (like me) have NO more work. No more “Business” as all of the ‘Events” I sell at or provide goods to are now CANCELLED. No choice here. so the cure is worse than the COVID. Here we come Concord Streets. Just a few more homeless. Who will notice!?

I think it’s a good time just to refuse to pay them.
