The Empty Parking Lot At The Sunvalley Mall In Concord

Here’s a sight you really only see on Christmas Day…..the completely empty parking lot of the Sunvalley Mall in Concord.

It’s an odd thing to see, and as of today, it’s unknown when it’ll change.

“And away go troubles down the drain”

Necessary but unfortunate for the lost revenue. Lots of people out and about Sunday on the hiking/biking trails. Good to see Americans exercising, but keep your distances, please. Please also remember this is not an unpaid/partially paid vacation. You should stay home if you’re not going out to shop for essential items, to exercise or to walk the dog (or cat, or parrot, which i’ve seen recently).

Are there any essential stores in the mall?

Cinnabon

I’m sure the eateries there could choose to stay open but I don’t see the point. Without shoppers at the mall, there probably won’t be any customers to attract.

Victoria’s secret? for our mental health in these tough times.

Sears Auto, Red Robin, McDonald’s Auntie Anne’s, Wetzels Pretzels, Subway

Looks like a good place to teach a teen how to drive.

If there are any cars there, now would be a good time for them to be towed away 😉

I think Christmas even has more cars because of some of the restaurants.

The mall is also closed Thanksgiving and Easter.

The mall might be closed, but Macy’s (I’m an employee) opens up Thanksgiving day late afternoon. We are closed Easter Sunday. However even on the Holiday’s I believe some none sales people are at work, the people that do the pricing and signing (putting up and taking down for sales sign) also the personnel that put out new clothing works at night. So Christmas and Easter they might start very early 3 a.m. depends on department and how much there is to do.

The mention about drivers ed– I did see someone learning to drive the other day. There’s not a lot of cars on the road.

I wonder, is the DMV still open?

Coming up on the next Episode of Dead Malls on YouTube-the once place to be “Sunvalley Mall” with JCP and Sears barely hanging on this mall hopes to find it’s way through tough times before being bulldozed…

Silver lining: no smash-and-grabs

Oooooohhhh I bet the rats are having a ball!

I thought about this myself about all restaurants. We can only hope the RATS are getting the Coronavirus. Gross!

They should shut down that terrible mall for good. Just a bunch of hood rats from pittsburg and antioch and hat and sneaker stores.

This is a perfect opportunity to bulldoze that entire hideous mall including the parking lot.
