Contra Costa is now reporting 46 confirmed cases of coronavirus in the county.
One person (a Contra Costa man in his 70s with underlying health conditions who recently traveled outside the country) has died from the coronavirus in the county, according to the health department.
Donut, Meals on Wheels is looking for drivers. Since you don’t want to stay home why not volunteer to help them? I think the food Bank also needs help.
This is the most thorough Spring housecleaning this house will ever get. Then, I’ll start on the yard. If after that I have any time left, I have the paint for rooms that need painting. Then later, I can fix everything that’s broken. I can wash the car myself, clean out the garage, and the storage shed, write that book I’ve been thinking about for years, finish a number of paintings, and get a bunch of stuff sorted out for a garage sale.
Food pantries and homeless resource centers desperately need your help. I received emails this morning the the Trinity Center, St. Vincent dePaul Society, and Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano Counties all desperately requesting help. Also, the Monument Crisis Center has severely cut back services, so people are in severe need.
I think we almost all of us, sooner or later will be tired of the lockdown, but it is better than getting the virus.
You can go outside as long as you are not in a large group, don’t know where you live, but this whole area has hiking and biking trails.
As of now I’m okay with the lockdown, it is giving me a chance to catch up on some organizing and other stuff I have been postponing.

Just last week, the media was saying double the cases in 4 days … I was expecting 80+ cases in Contra Costa, I asked about this and was told, stealth cases make this true, so how do you know ? The fall back position is we don’t have test kits, I’m starting to question the stats and projections … I’m not a denier, but really want some clarity
The purpose of the lockdown is to reduce transmission—if it’s successful, then the doubling rate will slow and it will seem to some like there was an overreaction.
That said, there’s a significant incubation period and then another significant period between the onset of symptoms and severe enough illness to receive a test (due to test rationing). That means that today’s count really tells us how many new infections occurred 10-14 days ago, with an artificially low upper bound because of constrained resources. The numbers next week will tell us where we were just before the Contra Costa lockdown, and then in the weeks after that we’ll see what kind of effect the lockdown had on slowing the spread.
It really should be emphasized that they aren’t releasing (and may not even be able to accurately count) the number of tests being done. If there are 46 positives out of 100,000 tests, that tells us a lot more than if there are 46 positives but only 50 tests given.
Just an anecdotal experience, take it for what it is worth, a friend had covid-19 like symptoms( cough, fever, tightness in chest) she was not deemed high enough risk to be tested. My assumption is there just isnt the availability of testing yet for lower priority people, who, may very well be infected, to be tested.
Donut… Lot’s of alternatives to reading or watching TV. Clean a closet, mow your neighbors lawn…volunteer somewhere, shop for someone who can’t..start walking/jogging (maybe you’ll be able to eat more donuts:).. It’s going to be a while.
i find it funny gyms are closed now how are those people going to exercise? outside? oh heavens no!! the blasphemy!
i might walk more so i can treat myself to donuts more often!!

Ugggh, zzzzzz zzzz zzzzz.
46 confirmed cases, so you probably have like 100 cases you don’t know about. 1 dead with UHCs? I’m not worried.
Before I jump in I want to see the data from an independent source. All these news channels show you how many confirmed cases (that have been reported) and how many dead. They don’t show you or talk about the recovery rate, nor do they share the granular detail on those who have passed. How many had UHCs? What were the ages? What was their static lifestyle (physically fit, drinkers, smokers, drug users, obese)? When you show me data that trends healthy adults with non of the less desirable conditions mentioned above I’ll say we have a problem. Right now we’re locked down and I don’t think it’s warranted.
My UHC, asthma, is not in any way related to lifestyle choices. I was born a month premature with a collapsed lung and have had diminished lung capacity for years. Never smoked a day in my life. It’s fools like you who jeopardize the health of the rest of the community.
@Reality – don’t worry, if and when someone you love is affects #showmethedata won’t matter.

Speaking of Donut maple bar, my wife says Donut King on Contra Costa Blvd. is closed. If so, how will Pleasant Hill’s finest survive?

In light of this why is it so many people are shopping with another adult? Watching people coming and going at grocery store about 75%have one or more people. Why would a couple take young children in with them.?
Every person is considered a risk. Do people not know of incubation?

John Mur Cardiac Rehab is temporarily closed until May 1st.
Most of the patients are elderly. Some who go to their gym can not because gyms are closed. After a heart event you are encouraged to keep exercising.
I’m fortunate to be able to work out from home because I have machines but can’t invite anybody because of social distancing.
I text and or e-mail my friends and suggest that they at least take walks.
Hopefully one day soon they find the vaccine and this too can be a thing in the past.
p.s….I love donut holes yummy..I know,I know I’m careful

Just read on SF Gate that New York has 8,000 cases. Maybe a shelter in place order isn’t so bad. I hope it works.
Yea, They are preparing us for the alien invasion!
