Brad March 9, 2020 - 7:10 PM - 7:10 PM

He should do it over twitch or some online platform that way we all don’t get sick, I don’t want to goto a crowd to learn about a problem in crowds

whome March 9, 2020 - 8:11 PM - 8:11 PM

You didn’t even the first sentence?

Aunt Barbara March 9, 2020 - 7:13 PM - 7:13 PM

I thought gathering in groups was a bad idea… hmmm way to go.

whome March 9, 2020 - 8:11 PM - 8:11 PM

You too?
Re-read the first sentence…

The Observer March 9, 2020 - 7:56 PM - 7:56 PM

It’s an online meeting which you call into from the safety and comfort of your own home. It’s unlikely that you would catch the virus over the phone line.

Martin March 10, 2020 - 1:33 PM - 1:33 PM

Oh you can’t, huh? Well, I’m pretty sure that’s how i got it. I am holding my mobile provider responsible because they have not taken even the simplest precautions, such as filters on their cell towers.

Kentucky Derby March 9, 2020 - 8:01 PM - 8:01 PM

Brad and Aunt Barbara – It’s a TELEPHONE town hall meeting. It helps to actually read the article. He is doing it over some other platform. The phone.

Mike March 9, 2020 - 8:11 PM - 8:11 PM

Can I shake his hand?

SF oh March 9, 2020 - 9:20 PM - 9:20 PM

Gotta admit – when I saw the headline I thought the same thing. A town hall?? What??? Maybe the headline should mention the format 😄

ConcordDad March 9, 2020 - 9:56 PM - 9:56 PM

This guy makes my skin crawl, can’t believe people just elect the same people over and over. They see incumbent and just mark the box it’s crazy. Is everyone happy with the way things are going?

QE March 10, 2020 - 7:12 AM - 7:12 AM

Lynn Mackey does not hold a doctorate FYI – her highest form of education is a MA. Utilizing the ‘Dr’ title for her is incorrect and misleading, especially during a time where misinformation about this virus is running rampant.

Tsa March 10, 2020 - 11:52 AM - 11:52 AM

Nice catch, will we see a correction? Probably not since it’s hosted by a politician.

Kentucky Derby March 10, 2020 - 2:18 PM - 2:18 PM

Schools Superintendents usually have a Master’s Degree, at the very least. Which Lynn Mackey had in 2018 when she became Superintendent. Over 50% of Superintendent’s have a doctoral degree in education as well. Maybe she earned a doctorate. I would like to think she wouldn’t be foolish enough to use “Dr.” in her title if she hadn’t earned the degree.

QE March 10, 2020 - 2:38 PM - 2:38 PM

@Kentucky Derby I thoroughly understand the educational requirements for administrator/superintendent positions in public education. I know that Lynn Mackey does not have a doctorate degree and the title of ‘Dr’ should not be used. Whether she styled it that way or it was a writing error on this page is a moot point – that title delineates a level of expertise and experience that she does not possess. Given the current climate and general distrust of citizens towards public figures (and etiquette in general), it should be corrected.

QE March 10, 2020 - 3:05 PM - 3:05 PM

*education requirements

Kentucky Derby March 10, 2020 - 3:24 PM - 3:24 PM

QE – Maybe you should email Glazer and address your concerns. It doesn’t do any good to complain about it on Claycord.com. I do agree with your that the title shouldn’t be used unless you’ve earned an MD or a doctorate degree.

QE March 10, 2020 - 4:37 PM - 4:37 PM

@Kentucky – Considering this is a highly trafficked site and many use it as a means to get local news, knowing who is delivering that news (and their qualifications) is important. While you may see the pointing out of this error as “not doing any good”, others might.

Kentucky Derby March 10, 2020 - 7:32 PM - 7:32 PM

QE – You’re complaining on Claycord.com isn’t doing any good. Complain to Glazer. It’s his town hall meeting, and I’m sure this info came from his office. Don’t just complain. If you want “correct information” complain to someone who can do something about it.

And what makes you think people will believe you just because you said so? Maybe people will believe what’s in print. Once again, if you want something corrected, you have to go about it and have it corrected correctly. Like through Glazers office.

This is very easy to understand.

Gittyup March 10, 2020 - 9:33 PM - 9:33 PM

If you don’t want to complain to him at his Town Hall, he has a form on his website where you can complain. I complain there a lot.

QE March 11, 2020 - 7:48 AM - 7:48 AM

@Kentucky Derby I’m not sure why you feel the need to be aggressive and patronizing. I can only assume it’s coming across that way because this is a faceless internet interaction. I “understand” what I need to do if I wish to pursue correcting this. I pointed out an error and only continued to explain why I did due to your responses, not because I wished to complain in a public format because, you’re right, ultimately it won’t do anything.

I’m not asking you to believe me at all, though what I stated is true and not an opinion. I believe in critical and analytical thinking, as well as doing your own research. Too much is taken at face value without proper vetting. If my comment at least caused someone to pause, think, and do some digging, great! If not, oh well. I’m here for the former, not the latter.

You seem like a smart person that questions the information you’re provided. That’s great – I hope you always continue to do that in a way that is productive and a learning tool for folks around you.

Kentucky Derby March 11, 2020 - 8:24 AM - 8:24 AM

QE – My “strong approach” probably is “stranger, internet related.”. I’ve met Glazer more than a few time (he’s from Orinda – I live in Lamorinda) and I attended school with Lynn Mackey. I grew up in Concord. I have no idea if Lynn Mackey has a doctorate in education, but if you know she doesn’t, and it bothers you that much – take the steps to have it corrected. I do believe people are more likely to believe something that came from Glazers office (in print) than an anonymous person on the internet.

I do question information that is provided, but if I felt something was incorrect, I’d take the time to address my concerns (by email) if it was important.

Have a nice day.

Mongoose March 10, 2020 - 8:01 AM - 8:01 AM

Another political hack scrambling for attention and relevance. Too bad he has no real competitor for the job he does not perform.

Kauai Mike March 10, 2020 - 8:26 AM - 8:26 AM

I’m no fan of government but do applaud this effort to touch bases from local authorities.

QUESTION: Why are identities of hospitals with patients kept from public? Everyone respects patients’ rights – keep them anonymous but please inform public of where infected are moved to.

The Wizard March 10, 2020 - 8:28 AM - 8:28 AM

Boycott

chuckie the troll March 10, 2020 - 9:58 AM - 9:58 AM

I have a great idea. Let’s have a ‘town hall’ meeting to tell people not to meet in large groups! This is one of those ‘fart-in-an-elevator’ ideas that politicians have when they have had too much to drink or smoke.

Rollo Tomasi March 10, 2020 - 11:02 AM - 11:02 AM

Seems you read neither the first sentence of the article nor any of the comments posted prior to yours.

Tsa March 10, 2020 - 11:49 AM - 11:49 AM

Safe to assume that this will be just more political rhetoric since it’s hosted by a politician. I’ll pass!

JohnP March 10, 2020 - 4:17 PM - 4:17 PM

A politician discussing political matters. What a concept!
