Man, I really miss the Broadcastify link to the PD radio! I looked into getting my own scanner, but all the reviews I read for the several “quality” brands included many describing significant problems with loading local frequencies, etc. Since scanners aren’t really carried locally, there are no in-house experts who can walk a body thru the programming steps.

CPD does not encrypt, unless something has changed within the last 3 months when I confirmed this with the manager of the dispatch team.

I have a Uniden HomePatrol 2. It’s easy to program. You just enter the zip code of your location and it will program all the frequencies for that area. It gets all the police and fire departments in our area except Antioch. They are the only police around here that encrypt their calls. When I go to Reno or Las Vegas I take the scanner and enter their zip code. Lots of action there. You get the local airport, police, fire, casino security, casino house keeping, maintenance and more. The scanner has filters to block the stuff you don’t want to listen too.

I bought a digital scanner years ago and programed it myself. It wasn’t easy. You can buy a new one and all you have to do is put in your zip code and it will put in all the local channels for you.

@badger
CPD is encrypted digital phase1/2 and you can not listen in on any scanner, not even your Uniden Home Patrol 2

CPD on my scanner is alive and well! I’m listening to it now. They use the East Bay Regional Communications System. Resident is correct. CPD is not encrypted. In our area only Antioch police are encrypted.

He sounds like a real winner, doesn’t even value his own life, let a lone other drivers or his passenger.

He? Do you know something we don’t?

Put that POS on ice indefinitely !!! Get real Geez.

Fear-mongering LPNU must be elated the driver didn’t cut through 2nd Avenue.

Likely out on bail already.

I only listen to Concord PD on my scanner. I have for years. First with analog and now digital.

Broadcastify is the baddest scan channel around!!!
