It was a suicide. The fire department covered body & no detectives were present. Sad

Amber February 21, 2020 - 4:42 PM - 4:42 PM

That doesn’t mean it was a suicide. Could have just been a homeless person that was ill, or injured and didn’t want help.

Sardie February 22, 2020 - 3:30 PM - 3:30 PM

Amber, I could see the body from the path. It was laying supine & was very bloody above the eyes & around head. No matter the situation, it’s sad that this happens, not just for the deceased, but the family as well.

Cellophane February 21, 2020 - 4:14 PM - 4:14 PM

Very sad.

Paul February 21, 2020 - 4:25 PM - 4:25 PM

If it is a suicide, this is the third time someone take his/her life at this park. There were a guy who hung himself from the sign post near the duck pond. Within the same year, a person hung him/herself from the tree by the bbq pit. In addition, a security guard and her unborn child was murder near that pond. This park is eerie

John February 21, 2020 - 11:29 PM - 11:29 PM

Paul your right and I live by there too. We need to do something about this park

Monica February 22, 2020 - 1:13 PM - 1:13 PM

In the 90’s a teen was murdered there too. I lived down the street from this park and it had always been a great place as kids. Sad that this park now has this rep 😔

chuckie the troll February 21, 2020 - 4:26 PM - 4:26 PM

We were just there and didn’t smell a thing! Gives that old ‘walk in the park’ thing a whole new meaning. I bet the CCWD crew taking the extended break in the parking lot did it! When we left at 1:30 they were still there.

Sardie February 21, 2020 - 4:48 PM - 4:48 PM

What a pathetically stupid thing to say.

grandmato3 February 21, 2020 - 5:38 PM - 5:38 PM

Pathetic and rude. Someone died today, we don’t know how for sure, but at least have some respect for them and their loved ones.
RIP

Robert February 21, 2020 - 7:13 PM - 7:13 PM

I guess that’s why you’re a troll, because of your pathetically stupid and insensitive comments! Absolutely zero compassion!

Pat February 21, 2020 - 8:36 PM - 8:36 PM

What an idiotic thing to say, Chuckie. You have no class.

Mr.pib February 21, 2020 - 5:20 PM - 5:20 PM

This happens so often there I’m surprised it hasn’t had a name change to Suicide park

Nita February 21, 2020 - 5:21 PM - 5:21 PM

I started Togo for a walk there this morning. Glad I changed my mind.

Stove February 21, 2020 - 5:53 PM - 5:53 PM

Lots of homeless camp in the park, be careful, especially on the western side of park on the steep hill that slopes towards creek.

Diane February 23, 2020 - 6:21 PM - 6:21 PM

Has anyone heard any more

Anonymous February 21, 2020 - 7:30 PM - 7:30 PM

This parking lot/park is full of drug dealers, and scum on a constant basis. Is sad really how nothing is done about it. The community really suffers because of these losers. When they’re not there, kids play, people walk and talk. Otherwise it’s full of cocaine dealers that have ZERO repercussions for what they do.

Anon February 21, 2020 - 8:26 PM - 8:26 PM

Cocaine dealers eh?

dbcoop February 21, 2020 - 9:47 PM - 9:47 PM

meth dealers is more like it

iKrissy February 21, 2020 - 9:15 PM - 9:15 PM

The Park is awesome! Safe! sports, hiking, dog park, trails, the flag park memorial Duck ponds, all! Unfortunate to lose a great being here. Blessings to fam and friends! So so sorry for the lose of your loved one.. hurting so terribly they considered this the best option. I tell my children don’t stop when the downs hit because the story has not ended! And you’ll want to be there for the final chapter.

B February 21, 2020 - 9:48 PM - 9:48 PM

Thank you for being positive in the midst of all of the nastiness, Krissy. You’re right, it’s a sad day for an otherwise lovely park.

Marianne February 22, 2020 - 5:38 PM - 5:38 PM

It’s very sad, but it’s not that bad. Life throws unforseen angles at you but you have to keep going.

Cali Gurl February 22, 2020 - 7:40 AM - 7:40 AM

I love this park and walk in it most mornings. I think it’s one of Concord’s prettiest parks and I feel safe there. Everyone on the paths are friendly. My condolences to the family and friends of those who have died there.

Momma February 22, 2020 - 9:51 AM - 9:51 AM

When a human being dies before there time, it’s a sad sad day!!!!
When a HUMAN BEING dies there is family that is hurting! I will continue to walk my park with my dog 4 days a week with no fear but with respect for all who have lost there lives here. It’s a beautiful safe park!

Candy February 22, 2020 - 11:12 AM - 11:12 AM

A very nice park indeed! And, I encourage park patrons to carry pepper spray or mace while walking the isolated paths of Newhall. There are areas that can be sketchy because of the dense shrubbery and isolation. Not to focus on the negative, just the reality of it all. Being prepared is a good thing!

Joanna February 22, 2020 - 1:58 PM - 1:58 PM

I like walking at this park for exercise. I don’t think I’ll be doing that ever again.

Boycott The Circus February 22, 2020 - 3:16 PM - 3:16 PM

It was a suicide, not a murder. I’m sure its ok to still walk it.

Ming February 22, 2020 - 5:14 PM - 5:14 PM

Praying for the family. So sorry for your loss.
So sad that the person was in such pain to not be able to reach out for help.
I love this park. Famly picnics and walks when kids were little and raising up the hill are some of the beautiful and fun memories.
RIP

Richelle February 25, 2020 - 10:40 AM - 10:40 AM

The person who committed suicide wasn’t a meth dealer, a drug addict, homeless, or any other speculatory negative thing. He was an older man, who lost one of the only two Immediate relatives he had left, due to cancer. He was sad, he was depressed, and people of his generation just didn’t ask for help.

Justifiable languor February 25, 2020 - 11:35 AM - 11:35 AM

Thank you Richelle. You just can’t second guess things like this. A member of my family is of this generation, so I know what you mean.

Sardie February 25, 2020 - 4:17 PM - 4:17 PM

And you know this how?

Original G February 25, 2020 - 10:57 AM - 10:57 AM

When mental pain of today is greater than pain of tomorrow, things can happen.

Take time to listen, . . .
that simple act can sometimes make a difference in a person’s life.

Christopher Aiello February 26, 2020 - 12:57 PM - 12:57 PM

That was my dad. We used to frequent that park when I was a kid. Sorry to any children or elderly who saw his body. He lost his battle w his demons, even w the healthy relationship he had w me and his family. Take this time to reaffirm your relationship w your loved ones.

Nutcreek Frontier February 26, 2020 - 1:57 PM - 1:57 PM

@ Christopher Aiello, am very sorry for your loss, that is heart-breaking. May you be comforted by your good memories of your Dad in time.

Nikki P February 28, 2020 - 11:34 AM - 11:34 AM

Praying for you all and know that your Dad is in peace.
