Used to give 5 X a year. Even reached the 10 mark. But then I learned to drive in my 40s over here in the East Bay. They wouldn’t take me anymore because my blood pressure went up and stayed up.

I donated every 8 weeks for 5 years. I worked at the Blood Bank of ACCMA in Oakland – my first real job.

I donate tomorrow and will get my one gallon pin. 😊

If they paid me for blood i might give some up, which i used to do many years ago but then found out how much they charge for it at hospitals and stopped as id need compensation.

That’s why it’s called “donating”.

I’ve tried several times, but I’m a hard stick. I’ve left after having no blood drawn and both arms bruised up and in pain from the attempts. There’s no point for me to try again.

The reason they don’t pay people is to keep everyone honest. They don’t want any questionable donations.

I can’t because they don’t allow gay men to donate blood. True story. If you’ve had intercourse with a man in the past year you’d be disqualified.

I can’t since I’m anemic. But that’s fine cause I pass out anytime I have to get blood drawn at the hospital. Horrible fear of needles and blood.

Agree with Yves-
I used to donate religiously but the last time Pacific Blood Centers showed up at my employers they took over 1 1/2 hours and made me a pin cushion because the people there were in ept. I never have a problem before that. So, sadly, I will no longer donate, until I feel they have quality people who know what they are doing. Plus I have the blood they that is universal.

I used to regularly. Now I can’t. A huge thank you to those who do!! I went through a stem cell transplant as part of my cancer treatment. I lost count of how many platelet transfusions I received.
