There are new speed limits on Pleasant Hill Rd. in Pleasant Hill.

Drivers must not exceed 35-mph between the north City limit and Gregory Lane.

Between Gregory Lane and Pleasant View Drive, the speed limit has been lowered to 30-mph.

The changes were recommended by the City’s Traffic Safety Commission and approved by the City Council based on a speed survey.

Speed trap approved!

I lived on pleasant hill road from 84′ to 00′. We were right across from pleasant view drive, and can confirm, people fly through there. I remember when the speed limit was raised to 35 from 30, but dont remember what year that happened.

The worst part about living on that road, was people use it to cut through from highway 4 to highway 24. Some would take Taylor to Pleasant Hill Rd, past Acalanes, while some would follow Alhambra all the way down to Pleasant Hill Rd. The reason why, was because when there was a backup on 680, the news reporter responsible for reporting traffic would encourage people to take the pleasant hill Rd cut through!!! Ugh, I don’t miss living on that street, but I miss Pleasant Hill.

There’s no homes NB between Gregory & Taylor near that farm, should just leave it 40mph there.
But maybe they want people to look at the new landscaping in the center divide 🙁

Yuck.

Speeding doesn’t cause accidents. People exceeding their attention span, reaction time, and vehicle capabilities are what cause accidents.

So you’re advocating for the autobahn “advisory speed limits” on Gregory?

I have to disagree with you Foo, speed is directly related to reaction time in traffic accidents. The faster you travel, the less time you have to react.

Strictly speaking the only thing that really causes accidents are two or more vehicles trying to occupy the exact same space-time. How they got there can be argued.

I would add that simple physics dictates that speed contributes to the level of damage that occurs in the instance of a space-time co-occupation.

And people say science lacks elegance. 😎

I disagree with Bob Foo. Speed does cause accidents. You can’t go on any given road in our county that people don’t speed. 15-30 miles over the speed limit. Why do you think the accidents are so horrendous and you hear about fatalities daily.
Pleasant Hill Road is no exception.

Unless it’s a one-car accident.

Completely agree with you! And @ Bob Foo, I take it you speed so you’re just trying to find an excuse?

Yeah because people are really going to listen or care about going the speed limit! Maybe one day people will learn that you truly get NO WHERE!!! It’s just to dang crowded. But you can’t fix stupid I guess.

One works for me.

Pleasan Hill Rd. speeds are crazy. I was doing 35 recently which wasn’t fast enough for the idiot who crossed the center line to pass me. I’ve always wondered why they not have full time cops on Pleasant Hill Rd, Boyd Rd, Gregory and Withers. The tickets would pay their salaries and then some.

People drive way way way too fast there. Friends of my parent’s lost their daughter around that curve (north bound) by driving too fast on a rainy night. Lost control of her car and was ejected out of her car and a person held her in his arms as she passed away. I will never forget that incident. I would love to know why the cops don’t pass out speeding tickets there. It is crazy. So nice for them I guess to open up around that hill and come flying down over 70 MPH.

Does it really matter what the speed limits are, for the roads in our communities, when the police very rarely enforce traffic laws?
