The Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office filed multiple felonies against Christopher Dopp and Richard Lange for last week’s burglary of the Walnut Creek Macy’s store at Broadway Plaza, according to the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office.
During the early morning burglary on Jan.24, the defendants took $65,244 of gold jewelry from display cases, authorities said.
The defendants were spotted by store employees on the first floor of the store as the pair smashed display cases, they fled the scene after the employees saw the pair destroying the display cases, according to authorities. Ultimately, Walnut Creek Police Officers apprehended the burglars as they left the store. In total, the damage to the store totaled over $80,000 from the broken glass.
The bail for each defendant is set for Lange at $170,000 and Dopp at $35,000. The defendants are not in custody as they bailed out.
The specific felony charges are as follows:
Lange: Second Degree Burglary, Grand Theft of Personal Property, Vandalism Over $400 Damage — Special Allegation Serious or Violent Felony Prior & Special Allegation Two Prior Offenses
Dopp: Second Degree Burglary, Grand Theft of Personal Property, Vandalism Over $400 Damage.
mugshots please. I like to work up a good hate.
One a transient and the other from Pittsburg but they made high bails. curious.
Dope, er… I mean Dopp, is just a perfect name for a criminal who gets caught like this. Did they actually ‘bail out’, or did the judge wave bail? And… where exactly DID they get the bail money from? If they don’t have regular jobs with a W-2, have they been committing tax fraud?
Good job employees
Great job police
Lousy job court
Yes! Well said. I hope they will somehow get what is coming to them.
These kind of robberies are happening too often. Terrible.
They made bail at $17,000 and $3,500 cash (in addition to collateral)?
Wow…
Nice job WCPD and the Macy’s employees who provided them with a good description! Two more worthless pieces of crap off the streets, at least for a short time.
Funny how our DA’s office posted this! While I have the upmost respect for the Deputy DA’s (and at the same time feel sorry for them having to work under this DA), our current DA will probably let them go.
I work at Macy’s in Sportswear and dresses, a few month ago I transferred from Macy’s Palo Alto to Sunvalley. Just a few weeks ago Bloomingdale’s at Stanford Mall was robbed of jewelry worth about 83.000, Bloomingdale’s at Stanford is right across from Macy’s and owned by the same company.
These thieves smashed window and cases with rocks, however the store was not open yet it was 2 a.m. and they have not been caught. Sounds like these burglars tried to immolate them, except they forgot when the store is open someone will most likely see you and be able to describe you as well, and call police, hence they were caught.
They did not realize Walnut Creek Police is stationedjust a hop skip and a jump in Broadway Plaza, Sirens are already on and they have had enough and are determined to protect their city from harm.
Just another wonderful example of no support from the court system. Totally agree with prior comments that these two pieces of $hit should not have been let go and not allowed to bail out. They will continue to do these types of crimes and will as usual have no repercussions. Come on folks get these types off the streets permanently. Instead of giving away everything to the undeserving lets build stronger courts, DA’s and prisons. We are so overtaxed for the entitlement crowd already let’s get those taxes to work and not be (sorry) pissed away on foolishness for the entitlement crowd.
“Damage to the store totaled over $80,000 dollars from the broken glass” What?????
They gone !!! Thanks Becton , you are so useless. She never should have won. Voter fraud is alive and well.
How long before somebody (mainly one of those dumb politicians) starts speaking up for these two losers and their rights?
A better ending would have been if these perps got gunned down while fleeing the scene. No reason to go through the court system.
