The City of Concord’s two dog parks are scheduled to be closed for annual turf renovation and general maintenance.

Newhall Park Paw Patch dog park will be closed from Wednesday, February 5 through Thursday, March 26, 2020.

The City’s Baldwin dog park will be closed beginning on Wednesday, March 25 and will reopen on Wednesday, May 13, 2020.

Renovations will include aeration, re-seeding, adding organic mulch, and allowing time for the natural turf grass to grow and fill in the worn areas.

The Paw Patch and Baldwin dog parks are consistently some of Concord’s most popular amenities available for local canines and their owners. Consistent turf renovations will keep the facilities attractive and safe.

Signs have been posted at the two facilities to ensure the community is aware of the planned maintenance. The City will also update its “Rain Information” hotline at 925-671-3479 in the event of any future changes.

Love them!!! We use them at least 2x a week! A huge part of why we moved to Concord was the dog park.

Got to have them great place to let them be social and burn off energy!

Cant take my dog there. He get along with all dogs except the alpha males.

Between the 6 weeks of letting the lawn grow back and the oversensitive rain closures and the 4 days a month for maintenance that requires an all day closure to do 2 hours of work these parks can be closed for almost half the year in a wet year. Thats kind of ridiculous. Its time we get rid of the grass especially at Baldwin where its a losing cause. Heather Farms, Clayton and Martinez are all bark and besides it being a little harder to find the poops there’s not much downside and there open all year. Save the water for the fish, its time to bark the park

How you be findin poops in bark?? I’m just saying bark looks like poo all day long. Most just leave it for my shoe to find. Damn
I’m the athlete !

PLEASE DONT MAKE THIS TAMBARK! Heather Farms is a cesspool of bacteria because it’s not a natural eco system. My pup loves the grass. He doesn’t even want to play at HF. I guess we will try Baldwin while it’s closed but I live close to HF and still drive all the way to Newhall because it’s the best as it is now.

Years ago I took our previous dog to Heather Farm’s dog park since
Newhall Park was closed for maintenance. Another dog bit
mine. $750 later after the emergency vet and animal services looking into it
(With the phone numbers of two witnesses and the owner of the dog), I was on my own. I won’t take the dog we have now to a dog
park for that reason.

I support the dog parks, but don’t use them. It is a choice.

Last week I was on a walk with my dog. As I passed the dog patch, there was an unfortunate event. There are signs clearly stating that one area is for small dogs and the other is for big dogs. A pair of muscular type dogs were already playing on the large dog side. An older gentleman decided to bring his two dogs (one big, the other small) into the big dog play area. As soon as the dogs went in, the greeting committee went after the little dog; literally seeing it as prey. The older gentleman took his dog’s leash to try to scare the big guys away as his dog was yelping, trying to evade the large dogs. The leash and yelling didn’t work and the man ended up laying on top of his dog to save him.

Long story short, we have to be responsible dog owners and make good choices.
