The Mt. Diablo Unified School District is unable to provide monetary support for the Northgate High School instrumental music program this year, so parents of the nearly 150 music students are relying heavily on fundraisers like the annual Orchestra and Band on the Run musical dinner show and auction, scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28 at Boundary Oak in Walnut Creek.
The Northgate Instrumental Music Boosters’ goal this year is to raise more than $15,000 so that NIMB can not only get students to performances, but can buy and repair musical instruments, pay entry fees to music festivals, purchase music scores, and subsidize other vitally necessary purchases. Just one bus ride to a festival can cost NIMB close to $2,000 and each year these music students attend at least 15 festivals!
The event will include a fabulous dinner, wine and beer, a silent auction featuring a vacation rental, spa retreat, musical theatre performances, dinners away, its famous and wickedly fun Blues and Brews game, an awesome dessert auction featuring sumptuous desserts created by NIMB’s very own Sugar Squad – and of course music provided by three student-led jazz combos (two from Northgate High School and one from Foothill Middle School) and a Northgate High School classical string quintet.
Purchase your OBOTR tickets NOW and save $10 on your ticket price! Tickets are $50 per person if purchased on or before Jan. 24.
