Temperatures around the Bay Area are expected to dip into the low 30s over the next three nights, with patchy frost possible in some areas, forecasters said.

The cooling trend starts Saturday night with the arrival of a weak cold front, the National Weather Service said.

Clear skies with light winds will develop by Sunday night and persist through Monday night. Coldest temperatures expected around sunrise on Monday and Tuesday mornings.

Only a small amount of rain is expected over the next few days, with coastal Sonoma County possibly receiving a quarter-inch on Saturday, the weather service said. Most Bay Area locations will see only a trace or no
rain at all.

The weather service advised that the chilly overnight temperatures could harm those without heat or shelter, and livestock and outdoor pets.

Sounds like a three dog night. Two at my feet and one next to me on the bed.

We as Californians have no idea what cold can be. I never get so cold that I have to put the heat on, but I just put the heat on for about 10 minutes.

“We as Californians have no idea what cold can be.” People that live in in or near Tahoe and anywhere In California where the temperature drops below 30. Those Californians know what cold is.

I grew up in a cold country (Denmark) and I lived on the East Coast for 6 years, New York City and Connecticut. First of all Connecticut and New York gets colder than Denmark, especially the City, with the wind blowing down the avenues. Denmark has 2 kinds of cold, one is November and December, when it is just around freezing, or just below, with high humidity and no sun, it chills you to the bone. Then often in January we get some snow, not as much as people think, and sun, and although the temperature reads frost it does not feel as cold, and if there is snow, then one can play in the snow, sleighing, skating or cross country skiing. However, I lived in the Bay Area since 1976, and I need heat in the winter, not a lot, certainly not at night, and often not in the middle of the day, after I get up and move around, but without heat I would be cold. As for being outside, no I don’t have to bundle up as much as I did in New York or Denmark.
