A 35-year-old man who died in a crash near Buchanan Field Airport on Monday night has been identified by the Contra Costa County coroner’s office as Walnut Creek resident Momchil Mihov.
Mihov died in a crash reported at about 10:15 p.m. Monday on Marsh Drive just south of Sally Ride Drive in unincorporated Pacheco west of the airport, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Officers learned that a gray 2011 Suzuki SX4 had struck a parked 2014 Freightliner big-rig and the driver, Mihov, died at the scene. The big-rig was unoccupied and no other vehicles were involved in the crash, CHP
officials said.
A preliminary investigation has determined that Mihov was heading north on Marsh Drive in the Suzuki and possibly speeding when he veered to the right of the roadway and struck the big-rig head-on.
The crash remains under investigation and anyone with information is asked to call the CHP’s Contra Costa-area office at (925) 646-4980.
