Concord Police will conduct a traffic enforcement operation intended to educate drivers and pedestrians on traffic laws meant to keep them safe on the road.
Tonight between 5 p.m. – 9 p.m., officers will be looking for dangerous and illegal violations made by drivers.
Special attention will be directed toward drivers who are speeding, running red lights, distracted, making illegal turns, not stopping for signs and signals or any other traffic violation.
Funding for this program is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Please come to state streets! People blow through stop at Washington & Pennsylvania multiple times every.single.day.
People won’t stop at any stop sign in the state streets and try Turtle Creek, and Ive tried to tell CPD,if they just sat in the parking lot at the tennis courts they could write 300-400 stop sign tickets everyday.NOBODY in that area stops when turning right at that sign, they whip through it.A camera would be a great idea, but CPD is too busy looking for internet crime from the safety of an office, and when they do traffic enforcement it’s a big production that gets into the local news because it’s so unusual.
I’m sure this “education” will come with a hefty fee, lol.

Shouldnt traffic enforcement be a 24/7 thing to enforce? Seems like police should always be looking for this type of thing as it happens so much.
This is an increased patrol presence. I was hoping it was a sobriety checkpoint. I’ve never had to drive the gauntlet. I’d like to see what that’s like. Maybe I’ll go out to watch the next one. Would it be legal to video it and post online?
A grant is needed for the police to enforce traffic violations? Oh wait, i know, it means that when the police cite you, you get a pamphlet and “a talking to”. Every other time they stop you, you just get a ticket.
Pay us extra and we’ll do our stated job! No wonder this state is a mess!!!
It’s time to de-fund the completely redundant California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
100% agree, end the redundant spending, and reduce taxes.
And I second that!
If I was a Police Officer I would be concerned about the loss of my life everytime I pulled someone over with tinted windows. All of our streets need to have police monitoring. With some streets more than others as neighbors have stated above. The Police would know this if there was active patrolling on Concord streets.
The tinted windows thing is a big deal. Last week I saw a Lexus being pulled over. Limo tint, huge rims, and what appeared to be smashed door levers, questionable license plate, etc. The officers carefully approached, one on each side of the car. They were clearly taking no chances on what might be behind that dark glass. How Stressful.
Light UV tint should be fine, but the dark tint should be left to the limousines.
I can’t ever recall seeing as many red light runners as we have today. I have seen so many close calls as well as some accidents. The morning and evening commute is the worst. Please wait a few seconds once your light turns green it could save your life.
Tinted windows are a big safety issue and it’s not just Police Officers who are at risk. I am very concerned for my own safety when driving next to or walking by a vechile with tinted windows. Its amazing how many cars have dark tinted windows.
