Scouts BSA held their annual Scouting for Food drive on Saturday, and the scouts from the Mt. Diablo Silverado Council collected an impressive amount of donations for the Food Bank of Contra Costa & Solano.
Scouts asked for canned goods, peanut butter, cereal, pancake mix, crackers, rice, beans, pasta, dried fruit or snack bars.
Scouts delivered flyers to thousands of local residents on Nov.9, and the boys and girls from each Troop, Crew and Pack followed-up by going door-to-door the following weekend to collect the donations.
As of 2 p.m. today, the Food Bank of Contra Costa & Solano says they took in 83,595 pounds of food.
The food bank says that’s an increase of 15.45-percent over last year.
Nice job, scouts!
I have a bunch of food that I bought at the Grocers ear marked for donations. I am wondering if I can bring it directly to the food bank myself. I missed both the local high school and scouts appointment pick up days.
Yes. You may drop off food directly to.the food bank. Other options include the Boy Scout office in Pleasant Hill, and Safeway supermarkets (among other locations with food bins).
Thanks Alan Young !
Well done, Scouts!
It was a great morning! So proud of the kids!
They didn’t hit our neighborhood. Good job though.
Our local scouts brought the hangers by one day and we were instructed to place our items on our porch the next Saturday, as of today, Thursday Nov 21st no scouts have returned to pick up from our area, North Walnut Creek.
