At the direction of the City Council, Lafayette Mayor Mike Anderson sent a letter yesterday, November 19, to the President of the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC), Marybel Batjer, seeking reimbursement for costs the city incurred during Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) events and Lafayette wildfires caused by downed PG&E lines in October.

In addition to President Batjer, the Mayor’s letter was also sent to Gov. Gavin Newsom, PG&E CEO William Johnson, and others.

In his letter, Mayor Anderson asks the CPUC to direct PG&E to reimburse the City of Lafayette for $26,000 in costs related to the PSPS events and to-be-determined costs associated with the October 27, 2019 fires that caused 800 homes in Lafayette to be evacuated.

The Mayor also underscored in his letter the detrimental impact PSPS events have on Lafayette’s local businesses and asks the CPUC to demand a long-term corrective plan from PG&E that will counteract the need for future power shutoffs. In seeking reimbursement, the Mayor requests the CPUC to order PG&E to reimburse California cities for their PSPS-related costs and to also develop a cost recovery policy for all cities as part of the PSPS program.

RANDOM TASK November 20, 2019 - 1:25 PM - 1:25 PM

so many acronyms

not enough money from pge to go around

now newscum can dissolve pge

and complete his socialist takeover

ironic thing is pge is union based with union wages and over time

so they will be voting dem for newscum while stabbing themselves in the unemployment line

no worries though …they will be back to work getting 25% of their previous wages ….but socialist healthcare will be provided ..sorry for the lines
as well as free housing in a gov run apartment building …
don’t worry …don’t worry …yes you still get to pay for your own gas …taxed of course …and bridge tolls will be your responsibility as well …so
WELCOME TO SOCIALIST DEMIFORNIA

YOU VOTED FOR IT …….ENJOY

Gavin Newsom was given over $200,000 from PG&E in political donations, and his wife accepted more than $350,000 for her non profit the Representation Project.
And no, I didn’t vote for it.

Not sure what the Mayor wants, Fires paid for or PSPS?

Obviously PG&E is going to pay for destruction of tennis club, I was at the neighborhood at Stanley and the neighborhood SHOULD have been under a PSPS and it wasn’t. It was an unprecedented wind event.
Let’s not forget…..it is the Residents of Lafayette who are preventing the cutting of trees.
Do I need to post a link to a photo, Save Our Trees group???

Can’t have it both ways Mayor Anderson. First you want to be reimbursed for the Power Safety Shut offs because they were inconvenient and disruptive to City operations and business and then you want to lambast PG&E for not shutting off the power to the neighborhood that experienced two destructive wind driven fires. With this decision making prowess you possess you should be running for Congress.

Leafy, tree filled neighborhoods have garnered envy and the highest prices for generations…and haven’t burst into flames with the slightest wisp of wind.

Politicians…we’re mad as hell and sick of it all.

Problem #1: the company is bankrupt, so get in line.

Problem #2: even if PG&E could scrape up $$, guess who pays that bill?

Haven’t heard from our schlepper deSaulnier today, maybe tomorrow,

Didn’t the City of Lafayette fight PG&E tooth and nail to prevent the removal of trees deemed a fire hazard? Institutional memory loss or just a lack or integrity?
