BART is expanding a program that puts attendants inside station elevators to include a total of four stations systemwide, according to the transit agency.
Attendants were initially placed in elevators at San Francisco’s Civic Center and Powell Street stations last April as part of a pilot program and now BART is putting attendants at the Montgomery and Embarcadero stations as well.
When the pilot program launched, BART officials said it was designed to “address elevator cleanliness, safety, security, availability and accessibility issues.”
“The attendants will greet riders and direct people seeking facilities to the well maintained, fully attended, street-level Pit Stop bathrooms located above the Civic Center and Powell Street Stations,” BART officials said at the time.
On Tuesday, BART said the “attendants have virtually eliminated unwanted behavior in elevators and provide a welcoming presence.”
The transit agency’s budget for fiscal year 2020 includes $2 million for homeless outreach, elevator attendants and attended Pit Stop bathrooms, according to BART officials.

Just a heads up, Claycord.com, this story originally had the faces pixelated , but I just scrolled by it and saw them unpixelated. Got a real good look. Didn’t last, now they are pixelated again. Not a coder, but that suggests to me that you didn’t pixelated it first and THEN put it into Claycord, but you pixelated it WITHIN your website or whatever. Apparently that can be glitchy and is not reliable.
They’re two different images, one with pixelated faces and one without. You can’t pixelate a photo within a website as anyone could pull up the website source and view the original unpixelated image.
Lets see some face !
That picture is peak BART.
Salty here…
At least the guy in elevator is a NINER fan!!!
Even after last nights kicker issue!!
