PG&E is currently replacing a power pole on eastbound Ygnacio Valley Road between Montego and Tampico in Walnut Creek.

The #2 and #3 lanes are currently closed.

The #2 lane will reopen at approximately 3:00 p.m. today.
The #3 lane will reopen later during the evening commute today.

Please plan your commute accordingly.

During commute? amazing. PGE prep and plan according to what creates the most negative impact for customers, my only hope is that they replaced the pole this am in Rossmoor that has caused numerous fires.

Salty here…

What MORON came up with the stupid idea to
do this work during prime time traffic. Talk about screwing up alot of people’s Friday night commute!!!

Special shout out to PGE. They did it again..

Salty 1 OUT!!!!

The city approves the work and dictates the work hours.

They’ve been at it since 7:30am when they cut our power. LSS if it was an accident, fine, if it was planned….WHERES THE WARNING?!?!?
Seriously, I’ve got cold blooded pets to think of here. Going to need another credit, yall.

Was just stuck on Ygnacio just now & it’s still down to only ONE LANE! And that was at 5:15. Took me over an hour to get from the freeway exit onto Ygnacio into Clayton.

1) Use traffic maps
2) Take Treat
3) you could even drive to 242 and exit clayton rd and be better off (or take the exit and jaunt to Cowell)

So I was on Ygnacio both Thursday and Friday around 3pm headed toward Walnut Creek and coming back around 4pm. Thursday’s commute was an absolute dream. It seems like Ygnacio is almost under a constant state of work, but on Thursday, nothing was going on and the commute wasn’t bad at all.

Friday was gridlock and I thought to myself, who would do roadwork on a Friday during commute time. Turns out, it was PG&E working on the power lines, and for the record, around 4 pm, they had two lanes closed– which is stupidity on a Friday afternoon. There were people honking, I witnessed road rage for people simply changing lanes. People were flipping other people off. I dunno, I couldn’t imagine having to drive that every day. This work should have been done on a weekend or early morning.

Unfortunately, my experience was unlike yours. Thursday, I was on YVR at 5pm and it took me an hour from 680 to Clayton. It was awful. Yesterday I took Treat because of the PG&E notice regarding construction on YVR. Was gridlock until Oak Grove.

I’ve commuted on those roads every day for the past 5 years, and every year it gets worse. Too many people!

People complain when PG&E does not do maintenance. People complain when they do maintenance. PG&E will continue to exist in one form or another, unless you want to go back to the pre-industrial age.

Normally, changing out a pole is fairly quick. This project seems to have been more challenging than most and also hit a snag that delayed re-opening lane #2. Starting at noon on Friday Walnut Creek PD was sending notices to avoid eastbound Ygnacio and instead to use Treat Blvd.

Sure, why not! It seems the endless utility work along YVR during the day is going to inconvenience as many people as possible. The City of Walnut Creek needs to require that this work be done at night when the impact on the city’s busiest thoroughfare would be less. I am sure that is asking too much though.
