The “Water Cooler” will be up Monday-Friday at noon.

QUESTION: If you could get on a plane right now and go anywhere in the United States, free of charge, where would you go, and why?

I think I’ll just keep my feet on the ground.

Agreed, . . . . last time on a plane TSA didn’t exist.

Yikes…

Hawaii! Because its Hawaii and I would just lay on the beach and relax with a cold drink.

I would go to Cordova Alaska to see my Daughter and her Hubby,… 🙂

I feel your pain Roz…I have a son in Colorado and Nebraska both with Grandchildren. We hardly get to see them in person. We Skype often though. Thank god we have a son here as well with two grandchildren to easy the loneliness.

Glad you are able to Skype! ,..I should learn how to do that.
Oh,…would rather keep my feet on the ground too.
There are no Roads to Cordova and Alaska State cut the Ferry system off till May or June 2020,…fly in & out is it.

To see my mom.

I wanna go to Funkytown!

You can get there via Electric Avenue.

I was in Montana a few weeks ago, I’d love to go back. No people, no sales tax, breathtaking wilderness and it’s not 88 degrees in the middle of fall.

anywhere in the BBQ Belt

See, I got my Concordejet I can go anywhere for free LOL
Nobody goes on my plane but me and the girls LOL

Not going to get me anywhere near an airport let alone a plane.

Now if you give me free gas, I’ll drive anywhere within 3 states.

Kauai, because we love it there. Not only would I go there we did in July and will do so again in a few weeks.

Uh, run over some chickens for me, would ya?

Bora Bora

What state is that in?

Bora Bora, Tahiti, Maldives, Fiji were my ideas until I read USA. BLAH!!

Anywhere, as long as I’m in the pilot’s seat. Over a decade ago a heart attack ended my flying and I miss it terribly, especially nice days like today.

Grab a cfi and get a $200 hamburger at Columbia, or better yet, the fabulous Castle air museum near Atwater!

That sounds like SO much fun, Kirkwood. I’m sorry you had to give it up.

The Big Apple. Why? Because I’ve never been there. I especially would like to visit Little Italy, rent a car and drive around Staten Island. I’d also take a drive upstate to see New York’s beautiful Autumn countryside.

You don’t want to drive around in NYC except early on a Sunday morning. I spent my first 25 year in that area. I would not drive there now. It does have the best subway system to get around. However it does have the best Italian food anywhere but Italy (and cheesecake and pizza that matches Italy) The Saw Mill River Parkway is the most scenic anytime of year. Do go.

I went to NYC for a birthday weekend once upon a time. It was around 1986 I think, and I was told by more than a few people that was unwise to take the subways then. I rented a car at JFK and drove for three hours in traffic to get into Manhattan where it soon was apparent that practically all other drivers in the streets were mad cabbies driving yellow cabs. I soon understood that one needed to be mad to drive there, so I called up a hyper aggressive facet that I had not previously known about. If you weren’t hyper aggressive you’d just be stuck in place and not go anywhere. In that and so many other ways NYC was so foreign to me. The people were nice and helpful once they’d determined my (now) husband and I were from out of town and meant them no harm. Up till then they all avoided making eye contact. We managed to find some iconic landmarks, and in Chinatown and Little Italy I was taken aback at how tiny they were! If I ever go back there I’d have more money and lots of time to visit the museums and galleries. I’d go upstate in Autumn also, and see where my grandmother grew up and her antecedents farmed, milled, taught, and ministered, and I’d check in on my first cousin once removed.

“Flavortown”

Maybe Spain or Portugal. Might as well make use of the free ticket to take me further. I can fly to Hawaii for as low as $330.

“In the United States” – not “in the WORLD!”

NOLA!!! This time if year it’s not steaming hot.

I would want to go to Syria to play with all the wonderful people

The Big Island of Hawaii. Not as crowed or congested as the other islands and has one of the most beautiful beaches I’ve ever seen: Hapuna.

Phoenix to see my amazing 18 year old daughter in her freshman year of college.
Boy do I miss her!

Tough choice. I think Washington DC, never been there, wanted to go ever since l watched JFK’s funeral in my native Denmark. I would then take the train to New York, l lived there for 4 years and love the city.

So many places to choose from never been to Hawaii
also want to see the Grand Teton’s and Yellowstone, but planning on driving there this summer. I have lived in 5 states and been to almost half ot the states, still many places l want to see.

Hanne Jeppesen, When I saw DC it was on a side trip I took from Colonial Williamsburg and Jamestown VA which I can sure recommend. It’s a lot like stepping right into a chunk of American History, and a whole lot of fun.

Frankenmuth, Michigan

Or maybe Albuquerque, New Mexico
Or maybe Asheville, North Carolina

Near Arcadia Park, Maine… or to the northernmost major airport in Maine. Then I would rent a sturdy SUV and drive all over the New England states (because …. though I have traveled to many, many foreign countries) I have never toured that part of our own country!

You couldn’t pay me to go into any airport much less get on a plane. When I had to fly I hated every minute no matter how hard I tried to enjoy the experience. When I was in the army they flew me all over the world in planes with no windows and seats that were backwards and oddly enough I found it enjoyable. But commercial aircraft are an absolute mess. I hate everything about them. Just too confining crammed next to people who are just plain annoying especially the people behind you who push their seat all the way down and have their feet in your back the entire trip. Being boiled in oil would be more fun than being on a plane.

I don’t like flying, but it is hard to get anywhere without flying. In my twenties it never bothered me, but as I got older I got quite nervous about flying. However, since I’m from Denmark and came here in 1967, if I wanted to visit my native country, I had to fly. My parents lived into the 1980ish, and I still have friends and family in Denmark and Sweden, so every so often I get on a plane and of course when I get to my destination it is worth it. I have to say it used to be a better experience, easier to get on the plane and on international flights good food and wine. Even on cross country flights you were pampered a bit, not so anymore.

Since I can’t choose Bora Bora, Fiji, Tahiti, or the Maldives, I guess I’ll say Kauai. Why? Because the beach is where I belong!! I would like to visit Yellowstone and some other places in the USA, but I don’t get to vacation that often, so it’s always back to the Beach!

I have no desire to go anywhere right now, but if I did, I would take JetSuiteX from Buchanan and avoid the big airports. I highly recommend it! Free parking, close to home, no TSA lines.

Oh good grief! WAY too many choices. Right off the top of my head, Yellowstone comes to mind. I’ve always wanted to see it.

I too Silva, like I said in an earlier post I’m planning on going there and the Grand Teton’s this summer. I was going to go this past September, but had a heavy car expense, so I postponed instead of putting the trip on my credit cards. My daughter went there when she was a teen ager, since she was 8 years old, she had gone with me several times to Yosemite, I’m a member of the Scandinavian Club and for years we would go to Yosemite on memorial day. Usually we hike half way to Half Dome, the mist trail, to the top of the Vernal Falls (or is it Nevada, I forget) one year we hiked to top of Yosemite Falls, tough hike, spectacular view. Anyway my daughter liked Yosemite better than Yellowstone, could be because she has been to Yosemite several times. I don’t really compare nature, it is impossible, every park, state, country etc. has it’s charm.

Hanne Jeppesen, That will be a fabulous trip! I’m sure of it. I’ve been going to Yosemite since the later 1950s, so I’m pretty familiar with those beautiful hikes too. I think Yosemite is just a magical place, but I agree, naturally spectacular places are hard to compare. When I was a Travel Agent I felt like I was traveling vicariously a little bit through my clients, and I can’t wait to hear about your trip come the Summer!🙂

We have been to many National Parks and the top three that we have seen are Yosemite, Yellowstone and Glacier (and its Canadian companion Waterton). They are all different, but spectacular. If you want to go just a little farther north, the Canadian Rockies are the second most beautiful place we’ve ever seen, especially the Icefields Parkway between Banff and Jasper. Norway is the most beautiful place we’ve ever seen BTW.

To Silva interesting you were a travel agent. When l lived in New York City l worked for American Express Travel Agency on Park Ave and 53td Street. I was not a travel agent though, just the receptionist, l was fairly young and had only been in the US for a few years. (Came as an au pair from Denmark). Hope you get a chance to visit New York again. So much to see there. Central Park, 9/11 memorial, several museums., the Metropolitan. Guggenheim, museum of Modern, many others.

I’m too busy to go anywhere right now, but in a few months I love to go to Palm Springs.

Hawaii to see family.

Hawaii to go swimming. and see family

I can do that now and unfortunately I am afraid to fly so I don’t.
