The National Weather Service is warning of another weather pattern that will lead to an increased risk of wildfires in the Bay Area this week.
There are light-to-moderate northeast winds with poor humidity forecasted today and Tuesday followed by moderate-to-strong winds on Wednesday and Thursday.
In the North Bay mountains and East Bay hills, wind strength is expected to increase through Thursday with gusts of up to 55 mph starting Wednesday night.
Similar weather patterns prompted PG&E to proactively shut off power for hundreds of thousands of customers starting on Oct. 9.
I watched the local news coverage of the most recent outage and not one channel explained honestly how and why this is occurring. Local news stations in other States typically defend that taxpayers, but not here.
I was under the impression PG&E is doing this so Northern California doesn’t go up in smoke for a third year in a row. I have been reading the local news for months now that this was PG&E’s plan for the upcoming fire season.
@ Boycott (et. al.)
I too have been reading for months that this would be PG&E’s reaction. Only knowing that does not go deep enough.
I expect a Bay Area news group to explain honestly how and why we ended up here. For example, I’d like to understand if PG&E is compliant with FERC requirements (I’ve heard yes, and no). Are the requirements of PG&E’s PPA’s still realistic? (They were signed long, long ago). Since Berkshire Hathaway Energy’s 550-megawatt Topaz solar farm has been downgraded to junk status, is the requirement for PG&E to purchase from them still a good choice, or is PG&E getting legitimately ripped off? PG&E has $34.5 billion worth of renewable-energy contracts for electricity deliveries between now and 2043, are these contracts structured in a sensible manner in the opinion of the California Energy Commission? Is this a stunt by PG&E to put pressure on the citizens, who will then put pressure on politicians? Does the Governor’s office want a taxpayer bailout of PG&E? and so much more.
I expect a leading news corporation to provide an in-depth, honest, and accurate account of how and why this is happening, yet I have heard nothing. Perhaps the silence from the media not providing this type of investigative report is deafening? Like I said, in other States the media defends the taxpayers, but so far on this story, not here.
It’s bigger than PG&E, this will be the new norm as we are at the mercy of the Agenda 21 / 2030 Psychopaths.
There will be no security or stability that we were all accustomed to. The media also is not talking about the coming food shortages and the prices skyrocketing.
