Another earthquake struck Contra Costa County at about 7:11 p.m. tonight.

This quake was a 3.4 magnitude earthquake, centered in Pleasant Hill.

This follows last night’s magnitude 4.5 earthquake, which was centered in the same area.

Yep. Small, though. Any info?

Thanks for the update.

Felt it pretty good here in Martinez. Not nearly as strong as the one yesterday thought.

Yep

Yes

Yep

Yes, felt it in State streets. Real quick jolt!

Oh yes! I felt 2 small jolts.

Definitely felt it!! I’m getting nervous!!

Felt in Canterbury village

Felt it in Benicia. A little back n forth one.

It felt tiny. Like a baby earthquake

Heard and felt it here, Concord/Clayton border

Yes! Felt it by monument and Detroit in Concord.

definitely just did! along with my coworkers.

A 7.5 earthquake is 1000 x more powerful than a 4.5. Imagine that for a second.

It’s actually much worse than that. A 7.5 has a magnitude, as measured on a seismogram, 1000 times greater than a 4.5. But the energy of a 7.5 earthquake is 32,000 times greater than a 4.5. The energy is what causes damage.

Yes…I was watching Jeopardy on TV

Felt that

We felt it! It was just 2 small jolts though

Yep!

Yes I felt it. I leave by Blackfield dr and meadow lane

Sharp jolt in south PH. House rattled but nothing fell.

Felt it, but more like a rolling than a jolt like yesterday. This time I will be wearing clothes to bed to feel confident to run outside. It says 3.4 so I have my flashlight by me in-case.

It’s generally not advised to go outside during an earthquake. You’d be safer under a table/desk (Head and chest covered). Lots of broken limb type injuries from people who go outside, when debris from buildings, trees, power lines etc are toppled.

Yep

Didn’t feel it this time. According to USGS was under Contra Costa Blvd. right near Gregory Lane

No did not feel it here in North Concord. Watching the Concord City Council Meeting Live. Apparently they did not feel it either at City Hall. No mention of it.

Yes, felt it over by Bailey and Clayton Rd.

I dont remember there being any earthquakes centered in Pleasant Hill. Anyone else?

Felt that one too, but it was much more subtle than the 4.5 last night.

Felt it in Dana Estates. Compared to last night it was just a little “bump”. I hope it was an after and not a for-shock! Just in case I’m pulling the flashlights out that I just put away after last week’s PG&E threatened power outage!

I’m in North Concord and definitely felt it.

It felt like a Good Roll coming from South to North, something I also felt a few years ago, here tonight at DVC area. It was substantial.

Felt it at Treat & Oak Grove

Yes felt it! By Denkinger and Treat.
Yes I’m scared. It’ll be 30 yrs.. 1989 was the big one. I was scared then too.

A 3.4, I was making a cup of coffee in the kitchen. Similar quake to last night though milder. Tis the season.

Did not feel it in Brentwood

Quick jolt at Great and Oak Grove. : the USGS said it is an unmapped fault.

Yep. For the second time in 24 hours the cats are mad at me. “Why the heck do you do that? That scares us to death!”.

A little thing in the room jiggled. The cat just looked at it. He didn’t dive under the bed like he did last night.

Earthquakes, explosions and fire. Sounds like the dang apocalypse down there in Claycord! You guys start hearing trumpets, best say your prayers.

ROFL

Heard something rattle a little, but that was it. Dog raised his head, but no barking. Praying for no big ones!

I heard it; wife felt it. No comparison to yesterday.

Felt in Benicia – it was the first earthquake I’ve felt that didn’t roll or jerk side to side. Instead the dang bed jumped up and down and slammed on the floor. Friends in Vacaville also felt it

I’ve got the patio door open and it made a loud creak like someone bumped into it. The cat came over and stared at me like it’s my fault. lol 😂

Damn! I didn’t feel it!

Felt nothing at 5th and Clayton because I was outside, but I felt it last night because I was indoors, and it damaged the door a 1/24 scale model car I had sitting on my cable box,and knocked 4 more over.I didn’t realized till later when I saw my cat looking at me weird and they were scattered around the cat food and water bowls.

I felt it in Clayton. I was in San Jose today and felt one at 12:42 today that was a 4.7 centered 16 miles from Hollister.

October in the SF Bay Area- Bake, then Shake!

Felt nothing near Ayers. I was in the middle of bathing the kids so it would have had to be larger for me to feel it.

Damn – they’re getting closer!
Tomorrow we’ll have one right under my house!

I was at Sunvalley Mall in the lower level food court, didn’t feel a thing. I was with 4 adults, they didn’t feel it either.

@home, heard on second floor, from first floor. Not felt on first floor.

I’d rather have several small earthquakes instead of one big one 😉

Home is near DVC.

I was sitting on the couch watching TV when I felt it. No big deal, just a slight bump. I actually thought it was the cat jumping up onto the couch, but she was sleeping on the floor and wasn’t disturbed by it. After last night’s shaker I found her hunkered down in the corner.

Oh, yeah! Rattled pretty good here in Concord but only for a couple seconds.

Definitely freaking me out. 30 year coming up. Felt it in Alameda tonight.

In the 1800s the Calaveras fault moved big time, guesses were probably 7-8+ as the Richter scale wasnt used yet.
So yes Concord area sitting right on the Calaveras fault will be devastating when it happens.
Glad we rent, so we can just leave when the house we are in gets totalled.

Quake Guy, Concord is sitting on top of the Concord Fault, which is a branch of the Calaveras Fault, and the Calaveras Fault is a branch of the San Andreas Fault.

And who’s fault is that certainly not mine…
It was Calaveras fault that moved and it wasnt Concord fault. I was talking about Calaveras I don’t care what Concord is sitting on top of or what under it branches off what.

Yes, I was in Pleasant Hill tonight when it hit.

Two sharp jolts. A mile (ish) NE of Todos Santos.

The one the night before was much stronger.

Dear Mother Nature – Enough already… please

Didn’t feel it, but definitely heard it. Sure enough, the chandelier was swinging.

The one the other night at 10:30 p.m. startled me. I was just going to bed.
I wasn’t sure if I should get out of bed and duck and cover but instead stayed in bed and covered my bed with my bed sheets (like that would have done any good to protect me – LOL). I was cooking dinner last night when the 3.4 hit. I questioned whether I actually felt something since it was just a quick roll. I was told 2 minutes later that we had an earthquake. Thank goodness it wasn’t any stronger. Wondering if earthquake #3 is coming since things seem to come in 3s.
