A shelter-in-place has been issued by the Contra Costa County Community Warning System.
The following information is from the Contra Costa CWS:
There is a hazardous materials emergency in Crockett and Rodeo at the Nu Star facility. The danger will be much less indoors. Go inside, and close all windows and doors. Turn off all heaters, air conditioners, and fans. Unless you are using your fireplace, close your fireplace dampers and vents. Cover any cracks around doors or windows with tape or damp towels. Stay off the phone unless you need to report a life-threatening emergency at your location. Remain sheltered indoors until you receive further official instructions. Stay off the phones and do not call 9 1 1 unless you have a life threatening emergency.

Is this affecting I-80 and Hwy 4 commute?
Maybe this was a coincidence that this happened the day after the earthquake or maybe the earthquake broke something at NuStar.
@Natalie – I first thought the same thing, but then remembered that my home, right near the quake epicenter, had no damage last night, including no damage to our water heater or gas meter. Given that, I’d be surprised if this was earthquake related.
Too much weird stuff going on.
I can’t help but wonder when PB&E will cut off the power to NoCal in case a power line may be harmed.
Was working in San Pablo today. Left about 2:15. Made it out of the area just before the freeway closure. Whew. Good luck to all.
For those of us with breathing issues, it’s a good idea to close the windows and doors.
It’s just smokey enough to cause some problems.
Some Caltans cameras are showing smoke and empty freeway lanes.
Sigalert dot com shows speeds and has a few camera views.
