The Contra Costa Board of Supervisors appoints the board’s 11 volunteer members and three volunteer alternates.

The board is charged with assessing community needs regarding prevention, treatment and recovery from alcohol and other drug use, and reporting its findings to Contra Costa Health Services, the Board of Supervisors and community partners.

Applicants must be 16 or older and live in Contra Costa County.

it would appear nobody is interested. isn’t this the second time they put this release out?

Alcohol and other drugs are not the problem.
You’re welcome. Panel dismissed.

Nobody who voted to legalize marijuana, which is a “gateway drug”, should in good conscience sit on this panel.

@Amy:
A major factor that created the “gateway” effect for Marijuana is the very fact that it was illegal. It was a stepping stone to the world of illegal drugs since people know our it is relatively harmless, but the illegality allowed the users step into the world of illegal drugs. Now the gap from using legal substances like Marijuana and alcohol to jumping into the illegal, “hard” drug world is much bigger.

Here’s the NIH’s viewpoint;

Is marijuana a gateway drug? https://tinyurl.com/ht66zyu
Kinda interesting.

S,

The Contra Costa Board of Supervisors may not like the applicants, if they are anything like the Concord City Council they only select individuals that are like themselves and willing to advocate for the views of the Councilmembers, those with differing views are seldom selected to serve on boards, commissions, and committees.

no way…. a bias political patsie???? Surely, you jest? (and quit calling me Surely!)

This is a feel-good position. They have no influence on policy. All they do is choose a person to accept an award that they sponsor. Everything else has to do with sitting around and talking in circles about nothing that matters with real drug and alcohol care or laws.
