Warmer temperatures in the forecast have prompted the National Weather Service to issue a fire weather watch starting tonight for the North and East Bay hills and higher elevations in the Diablo Range.

Hotter temperatures around the region are expected on Tuesday and Wednesday, to be followed by widespread cooling on Thursday, according to the weather service. The fire weather watch will be in effect from 9 p.m. tonight to 5 a.m. Wednesday.

Temperatures will range from the upper 80s to low 100s on Tuesday and Wednesday in interior locations, along with the North/East Bay hills and the Diablo Range.

The approach taken by PG&E in dealing with the potential for wildfires in populated areas is to cut power instead of fixing its safety problems. Its economic analysts determined it would be cheaper to forego the revenue from generating and transmitting power than to maintain and repair its aging infrastructure. The company is a pure, for-profit monopoly, and it has the rate powers firmly gripped around the throat. How do i know? I regulated that gang for over 22 years and was actually told by a company attorney they weigh the cost of a repair with the cost of a lawsuit before they make a decision.
