The Contra Costa Fire Protection District will hold a ceremony Monday morning to unveil a new fire station in Lafayette.

Fire Station 16 will enhance emergency response in hilly, fire-vulnerable areas, as well as support operations across the fire protection district, fire officials said.

Tours of the new station at 4007 Los Arabis Road will be available following remarks by elected leaders and a symbolic fire engine “push-in” ceremony.

The event will take place at 11 a.m. Monday at the new station. Parking is limited at the site, officials said.

That’s right add another fire house for the rich. Who don’t clear there land next to structures. Of old brush. Just add a fire house. Just like no metering rights at livornia road and 680, Diablo road and 680. don’t want to delay the rich.

Better yet, that area needs to do their part for Affordable housing 😉

@ Ben
Do the millions on welfare living in section 8 housing clear the brush next to their government subsidize housing??? I will help you with the answer, NOPE! And they have all day to do it. At least the rich pay taxes and are not leaches. If you do not like your station in life, do SOMETHING! In 4 years you could be an engineer, in 8 years a doctor. The only person holding you back is the person looking back in the mirror.

@Ben

Guess you should have studied and worked harder for a better paying job.
CA – Land of the entitled and “free” handouts

And it’s their, not there…

@Ben

Try stop living paycheck to paycheck and always having the notion of free handouts. Don’t get mad or jealous of us who worked hard for what we have.

Nobody is rich in laughing yet.

It’s a new station house to take the place of the one that had been there for decades, and was condemned and closed by the county a few years ago.

@Darwin: People on Housing Choice Vouchers do not need to clear the brush because they are renters, and the landlord is usually responsible for that.They usually are in apartments too. Ugh.

@ concord Ygnacio
People is subsidized housing are usually in houses. As the people in section eight can’t fit all their children into an apartment. And part of the agreement is they are supposed to do the upkeep IE yard work. Ughhh

no need for words of elected officials… a few comments by the fire chief and who ever will command the station.

Opening Ceremony On Monday For New $7,000,000 ConFire Station

A fire station is a public building- ADA compliant, earthquake proof, …… the list goes on and on. Welcome to California.

I’m pretty sure I read that it was less than 3 Million.

Wow. Just Wow.

Pretty sad that Walnut Creek, Concord, Martinez, and Lafayette get 3-4 fire station each, but lowly Pleasant Hill gets only one.

That’s not true Nacho. There are plenty of Brigades.

@ Concord Ygnacio – geesh, look at the list you posted. Pleasant Hill has more than one station.

And PH isn’t a “lowly” community. Nowhere else I would live. Period

Not true, Pleasant Hill has Station 2 on Geary in Pleasant Hill, Station 5 on Boyd Road in Pleasant Hill, and Station 9 is in Pacheco, but also serves a good chunk of P-Hil.

Head shaking the hostility on this post. Been a neighbor to ConFire Station #2 for 22 years or so. The station is an excellent neighbor, couldn’t ask for a better neighbor.

Also provides some piece of mind in the event of an emergency.

My second house is in Lafayette. I use the four car garage there to keep my exotic car collection. I’m glad the firehouse is close now.
