Officials with the San Francisco Zoo are launching “Good Neighbor Free Days” on Thursdays in September for residents from nine Bay Area counties in celebration of the zoo’s 90th anniversary.

On Sept. 19, admission is free for residents of Alameda and Contra Costa counties.

Visitors must bring valid identification and each adult must bring proof of where they live.

The zoo will be open one hour later each Thursday in September and a special Happy Hour for children and adults will be held from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on each free day.

UHHHhhhhhhh… maybe better on a Saturday???????????????????

Happy hour at the zoo?!?!

Make mine a double!

Would not go to SF if they paid me!

We are 5 people in the household thanks

Who ever said why don’t they do it on a Saturday, don’t understand everyone and there momma would be their, causing a dangerous overcrowding of the zoo. An San Francisco zoo knows that literally every single person in contra Costa county would go to the zoo, and cause it to be completely overcrowded ruining everyone’s time because everyone would fill up the park. I guarantee you they will do this again to accommodate people who only have days off on the weekend. But if you really wanna go take a darn paid vacation.

Good point. I used to take one Wednesday off a month since my kinds had a half day at school on Wednesdays, and take them to the zoo, or fairyland, or to go get ice cream. Make the sacrifice, build memories

Sorry,, don’t agree.

Would be cool if they offered same deal for their museums. deYoung, Asian Art, Exporatorium, Academy of Science, MOMA, they’re all first rate attractions.

Barbosa – those places DO HAVE free days. Google it.

I thought the free days to the museums were only for SF residents. But I’ll check it out.

You couldn’t pay me enough to go to the SF Zoo, or anyplace else in SF. At least they clean up the poop in the zoo, though. I’ll give them that.

Wonder if it’s still free for those residents who are NRA members.

I thought the SF Board of Supervisors meetings were always open the the public for free…

This is also the same date, the second of the year, for free entrance at SFMOMA. Go to their website. You need a ticket, no matter the age. So, you can go to SFMOMA, continue to SF Zoo, then come back here for the free Thursday night concert at Todos Santos.
