The Interstate Highway 680/state Highway 4 interchange will be closed in both directions for a total of 13 nights this month as crews undertake infrastructure work.
Caltrans and the Contra Costa Transportation Authority are installing girders to widen the Highway 4 bridge over I-680 in the first stage of a project to improve safety and reduce congestion at the interchange in central Contra Costa County.
The interchange will be closed between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. Sept. 4-6, Sept. 9-13 and Sept. 16-20. The freeway will be reopened between 5 a.m. and 6 a.m., according to the Contra Costa Transportation Authority.
Motorists are advised to be on alert for detour signs.
So as someone who goes through here around 4:30 to 5:00 am, is the closure starting on the night of the fourth or the third? It looks like Thur – Sat? It will make a difference tomorrow morning.
11pm (4th) – 5am (6th)
I understand this detour affects traffic for six hours each night. In the first paragraph, the phrase “13 nights” implies the interchange will reopen at 5 AM each day. Thus pt.., I think your comute will not be affected after 5 AM.
This should funnel the drunks and stoners onto detours that could easily be monitored by the CHP and local PD. Chokepoints are easy pickings and no need for grant money for checkpoints.
Hey Mayor, do you have any of the renderings or maps of what it’s going to look like when it’s all done?
As a life long resident, I just want to say, THIS EXPANSION MAKES ME HAPPY 😁😁😁 I understand that for the commuters, this will cause aggravation. But think of that final out come! Its going to be AMAZING 💪💪💪 Those on & off ramps are extremely DANGEROUS! For every drivers safety, I am grateful 💛
