Sheriff’s deputies are using a drone and a dog in their effort to find a woman who was reported missing Tuesday night in the Discovery Bay area of unincorporated Contra Costa County.
Just before 9:30 p.m., a man flagged a deputy down to report that around 7 p.m. his wife, 53-year-old Ching “Ping” Chen, had gone outside to water plants and had not returned.
Deputies were unable to locate her, and search and rescue personnel were still looking for her as of Wednesday afternoon.
Chen was last seen wearing a light green tank top, green shorts and pink sandals. She’s described as an Asian woman standing 4 feet 11 inches, weighing just under 90 pounds with brown eyes and brown hair with blonde highlights.
Anyone with information about Chen’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office at (925) 646-2441.
I hope she’s found safe.
Any update? Hope she gets home.

Flagged a deputy down? Sounds fishy to me. Why didn’t he call police?
Hope she is found soon.
Peace ✌🏼
I hope she is found safe and I hate to be like so many negative posters on this site – BUT – it seems fishy to me…. it wasn’t late at night…. just strange. Like I said I really hope this has a happy ending.
Contra Costa Sheriff’s Dept is reporting that she was found dead behind a residence on the 5500 block of Beaver Lane in Discovery Bay last night around 8:30pm
Sad
Sad…perhaps she couldn’t swim.
Tragic. So sad. Prayers for the family and friends.
Sad that this had a bad outcome.
I like that they are using drones to search for people. Seems more efficient than ground searches by humans.
I thought of that after posting 🙄
