The Alamo Palace Chinese restaurant, located at 120 Alamo Plaza in Alamo, was shut down this week after inspectors from the Contra Costa Health Department say they found the following during a routine inspection:
- Approximately 50 to 60 live cockroaches in all stages of the life cycle observed throughout kitchen (cook line,
ware wash area, food prep area, and server area). - 2 dead cockroaches observed on the floor of the ware wash area.
- Approximately 5 pounds of raw chicken defrosting in the food prep sink since last night measured 79F.
The restaurant has since been reinspected and reopened.

That’s disgusting.
It would seem impossible for them not to notice any of this. I don’t live in Alamo, but would not eat there, cleaned up or not. Just the chicken sitting out at 79 degrees is disgusting.
@Teacher Mom: the best time to go to a restaurant that was shut down is right after they were allowed to re-open. The employees will be on their best behavior and all vermin will have been exterminated.
I hear they taste just like chicken
Cockroaches going upscale!
They are going to need a lot of lizards in that place.
At least they didn’t find any dreaded Wiggling Antennas.
2nd Health Dept. closure for this restaurant in the past 3 years. To leave chicken out overnight to thaw out – rather than properly thawing in a refrigerator – tells me the owner and staff have neither a clue nor a care about proper food handling techniques.
They’ve been charged for improper hot and cold holding temps in the majority of their inspections. Also ongoing charges for ” No insects, rodents, birds or animals present.” When is enough enough to permanently shut down a repeat offender?
A permanent shutdown just happened this week in Sacramento County to a restaurant where 8 of 12 inspections found cockroaches:

Disgusting. Where there is food you are going to find a cock roach hear and there but 60 means they have not done anything about it. I have not and would never eat there.
I beg to differ with ” Where there is food you are going to find a cock roach hear and there …” There should be no cockroaches or vermin in an establishment that serves food. There should be none in your home, either. There is no need for ants, cockroaches, mice, rats, etc., anywhere near food if you are meticulous in keeping the area clean and secured from infestation.
Ugh. Now that’s bad.
Permanent placement on the Oh-Hell-No List.
Good cockroaches are hard to find!
