$100M Bail “Corrected And Reduced” For Two Men Accused Of Robbing Concord Arcade

Two parolees facing felony charges in connection with the robbery of a Concord arcade who had their combined bail set in excess of $100 million in an apparent clerical error have had that sum reduced, according to court records.

Two men allegedly robbed the Round1 arcade at the Sunvalley Shopping Center with assistance from a security guard and forced employees into a secure cash room at gunpoint.

Investigators identified Vincent Timmons as one of the robbers and allege that Gary Dillahunty, the security guard, conspired to let them in through an employee entrance. A third suspect, who was wearing a mask, has
not yet been identified.

Timmons initially had his bail set at more than $70 million and Dillahunty’s bail was set at more than $40 million. While a running tally of record-high bail in Contra Costa County was not immediately available, those
sums were both higher than in any case in recent memory.

As of July 26, however, court records indicate that both defendants’ bail has been “corrected and reduced,” although it was not immediately clear Wednesday afternoon how the error had occurred or who was responsible for it.

Esteban Alvear, an attorney representing Dillahunty through the Alternate Defender Office, said the matter had been “fixed.”

Timmons’ bail is now set at $8.395 million while Dillahunty is currently being held on $7.465 million bail. Both men remain in custody, and are scheduled to appear in court again Sept. 9.

I am fine with their $8 million bail. It’s not like they are going to pay it and skip out.

Was the suspect a sun valley security guard? This must have been traumatic for the victims

A cashless bail system would be better, so defendants could be evaluated on their risk for flight and potential to harm, instead of their pocketbook.

So, if not cash or collateral for a bail bondsman, what other asset would be offered to guarantee a defendant remains in the jurisdiction? How many folks have fled back to Mexico to escape prosecution in the US? There are other countries that do not extradite to the US, so the affluent can bolt as well. Rich or poor, a high monetary bail system usually keeps the accused close to home.

Those at risk of flight would remain in jail or closely monitored in a cashless bail system.

Cashless bail will do nothing but increase crime rates and embolden criminals. But thank you CY for the predictable huffington post talking point. I’m sure the other 2 claycord liberals appreciate it.

I’m curious, who determines who is at risk of flight and potential harm, the same liberal judges that hand down light sentences?

Everyone could be considered a potential flight risk. No board is going to be able to uncover their true plans. Look at how well the parole boards work!

I’m assuming that they’re not going to be able to make bail anyway….

The higher figure was better.

Cashless bail will be a joke. I’m wondering what the crime rate has to get up to before certain people who are for this garbage get a clue?

Thank you!! I’d like to know what crime victims think of cashless bail. CA loves the criminal but never a taxpayer or crime victim.

Of course the bail is reduced! Duh, it’s california where criminals get a slap on the wrist.

I have a feeling any bail over $160 would have done the trick. They ain’t going anywhere. Book ’em!

Good one!

Parolees on probation that commit a felony should not be granted bail.

What ChuckStir said.
How can anyone including judges disagree with that? I’m sick of the leniency given criminals.

If these two asshats are on parole then they have a 3056 PC no-bail parole violation hold on them.

They may have been issued a bail for the new charges but even if they could come up with the money for the bail until they have had their Morrissey hearing by the California Dept. of Corrections they will remain in custody.

This headline is extremely disingenuous.

Can I get a witness !

Woah!!! That’s a lot of quarters!

Whew! I’m so glad somebody is looking out for felons who round folks up and scare them to death.

Cashless bail will not work. Same failure as the theft of $950. and under is a misdemeanor. If you don’t believe that you aren’t aware of the theft in retail since that passed. Bad behavior needs punishment.

$8.4 million? Mere pocket change, no doubt.

The right to keep and bear arms (You are in a well-regulated militia, I hope.) does not bestow upon you the right to murder, which is what I gather from your post. Are you judge, jury, and executioner? You seem like the kind of person the authorities should investigate as a potential mass shooter.

WAIT – There’s still an Arcade in operation?

I’ve been searching for one. I loved spending all day on Saturday at the Regency Arcade in Pleasant Hill behind the then-Regency Theater which is now Lamps Plus.
