Former Construction Executive Found Guilty of Embezzlement, Filing False Tax Returns

A Contra Costa County jury found Edward Miller of Walnut Creek guilty of four felonies tied to his criminal schemes to embezzle money from his employer, Seeno Construction, Inc. and its affiliated entities, according to the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office.

Miller was the former Chief Risk Officer for the Seeno Companies at the time of his criminal conduct.

Miller created a shell company to funnel funds held in trust from law firms representing the Albert Seeno Construction Company into his own personal accounts, using phony invoices to request that the law firms send him checks payable to a secret company he created.

In turn, Miller claimed company expenses to hide the income and to avoid paying income taxes on the money he was collecting. Additionally, Miller used some of this money meant for the Seeno Companies to support his lifestyle at golf resorts and to account for his gambling losses. He spent this money at multiple casinos in Reno and Las Vegas.

“White collar crime is inherently complex, and this jury was willing to tackle a thorny body of evidence that wasn’t always straightforward,” Deputy District Attorney Adam Wilks stated. “This jury had to follow money moving across multiple bank accounts, and had to listen to testimony about issues of civil litigation, business formation, and interpersonal dealings within a corporate structure. The verdict in this case speaks volumes about our community, and specifically to those who sacrificed their time to be on this jury, have the sincere thanks of the Contra Costa County DA’s Office.”

Sentencing will occur later this fall.

He’ll have a nice time at ClubFed

Probably 3-7 years in Dublin, CA with a fine 1/10 the actual amount he took. This will give him plenty of time to figure out another scheme to rip off another group of people.

Contra Costa DA = California Codes…not Federal.

He’ll probably get a steep fine and do a month or two in county jail.

Damn though, he was a straight up hustler…Gotta respect that, too bad he didn’t work so hard and intelligently on a legitimate business…

Bet Poppa, if he were still alive, would have had found him out in short order.

Did he have lessons from his employer?

There is a SHADY dude from MTZ that hops from company to compnay trying to better himself. When he knows it’s illegal. He’s scum. With a big freaking head

The Seeno Company is so corrupt that Karma hit them!!

The issue is with these people… Seeno is not the bad guy! He does everything to keep his company as clean as it can be and has done amazing things for our community

When Oakhurst was being built, the company my dad worked for did all the grading and paving. After the work was completed Seeno wouldn’t pay what he owed the company, so the owner had the entrance to the jobsite blocked with two scrapers until Al fulfilled his part of the contract. Al Jr. has tried to get out of paying subcontractors for many years. Unfortunately he has succeeded several times.

Calling the Seeno great is a joke, do you live under a rock? Google their company and it will show how corrupt they are. They built their subdivisions over an Indian burial site in the Sacramento area and lied about it until they got caught. They also built over endangered frogs in San Marco subdivision and of course lied about that too! Should I go on? They are the most corrupt family in the East Bay, not to mention that their quality of homes are built like crap!

Gee, a criminal working for the Seeno family. Who’d have thought?

Hmmmm…. An entire court procedure? I figured this would have been settled privately with cement galoshes.

@Ben

Not to mention building in park land (Lime Ridge) and putting up a building that was 2 floors higher than approved AT THE END OF A RUNWAY at Concord airport. Ooopsie!

Stealing from Seeno? I’m surprised his torso didn’t show up floating in a suitcase!
