45 Suspected Johns Arrested In East Bay As Part Of Nationwide Sex Buyer Sting

East Bay authorities arrested 45 suspected sex buyers and two suspected sex traffickers as part of a operation that netted more than 500 arrests nationwide, Alameda County District Attorney Nancy O’Malley said Friday.

Across the country, 26 law enforcement agencies across 11 states, participated in the five-week sting.

In the East Bay, the arrests were the result of four covert operations, by Oakland and Hayward police and Alameda County Sheriff’s Office units.

Since it started in 2011, the National “John” Suppression Initiative, led by the Cook County Sheriff in Chicago, Illinois, has resulted in 9,500 sex buyers arrested, with more than 140 participating agencies.

Since the passage of California’s anti-trafficking law in 2006, the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office has prosecuted more than 600 human traffickers for cases mostly involving young women and minors as victims.

“Human trafficking is the fastest growing criminal enterprise in our country,” says DA O’Malley, “and we must address the reality that it is being funded by the buyers.”

Thank you all authorities for getting rid of the pond scum. There will be the usual negative nonsense response blaming the liberals for the laws.

I bet Scott Wiener is upset over this action.

Chicken Little August 2, 2019 - 11:08 AM - 11:08 AM

Let’s see some names.

Mountainside Jay August 2, 2019 - 11:34 AM - 11:34 AM

Can’t you read? Their names are all John. *rimshot*

Gittyup August 2, 2019 - 11:33 AM - 11:33 AM

Why hasn’t Weiner made this legal? He seems to be all in on everything to do with having sex.

Barbosa August 2, 2019 - 2:57 PM - 2:57 PM

Is this Weiner person you speak of, by chance, related to Anthony?

That would be left-wibg liberal, Senator Scott Weiner D-San Francisco, who introduced and passed legislation reducing the act of intentionally exposing another indivudual to HIV from a felony to a misdeamnor; introduced and passed legislation requiring special amenities for incarcerated transgender individuals; introduced and passed legislation to protect sex workers from arrest after they report a serious crime; introduced and passed legislation requiring employers to provide full wage replacement for workers taking leave to “bond” with a child; introduced and passed legislation requiring solar panels on all new construction in California; and so on, and so on, and, so on.

I’m sure there’s more I might have missed, but laws related to sexual activity are his speciality. Expensive and in some cases questionable laws added to the books. He is literally the West Coast equivalent of, and his very own living and breathing version of “The Squad” all rolled up into one package. The difference is, in the Demicratically controlled State of California, he has no opposition. Is he related to Anthony? I don’t know. If so, they’re keeping it quiet.

Atticus Thraxx August 2, 2019 - 11:38 AM - 11:38 AM

Odd they’re all named John. What are the odds?

Steve August 2, 2019 - 12:03 PM - 12:03 PM

S August 2, 2019 - 2:18 PM - 2:18 PM

where does it say that

Ricardoh August 2, 2019 - 12:24 PM - 12:24 PM

I have never been a John. I have to make that perfectly clear I am not a John. ( ala Nixon) However there will be no Johns if there is no one for the Johns to patronize. Dressing a police woman as a prostitute is entrapment. Go after drug dealers. Pose as drug pushers. Drugs are the scourge of the country not prostitution. Hundreds of our citizens become drug users a day and hundreds die from drug use daily. If guns had been used to kill those who have overdosed it would be on the news twenty four hours a day. I am not sure how drug addicts get started but my bet is they don’t leave their home one night and say I am going to do drugs tonight.

Frank August 2, 2019 - 2:38 PM - 2:38 PM

Dressing a police woman as a prostitute is not entrapment…please look up the legal deifinition of entrapment. I hink you are wrtong about drug users as well, there is plenty of evidence that drug use is a deliberate act, no different then someone planning on getting drunk.

Ricardoh August 2, 2019 - 3:26 PM - 3:26 PM

Frank you are entitled to your opinion no matter how wrong it is.

Carnac the Magnificent August 2, 2019 - 4:34 PM - 4:34 PM

@ Ricardoh

Spoken like someone who doesn’t want to take responsibility for their own actions. It’s not my fault… I was entrapped to do something that I knew was illegal.

Ricardoh August 2, 2019 - 8:25 PM - 8:25 PM

@ Carnac the Magnificent I don’t know exactly what you mean. I have no desire for prostitutes. My point is that if a man is walking down the street and sees a prostitute and had no idea before hand of hiring one and the prostitute is a cop and he gets interested he was just entrapped. Now we get to the legality of the worlds oldest profession. In half the world it is legal. A couple hundred miles away it is legal. Even here when a prostitute is busted she may spend a couple hours in jail and may pay a fine. I think it should be controlled not illegal. Actually your comment was out of bounds.

S August 2, 2019 - 8:52 PM - 8:52 PM

ur still incorrect in ur scenario

Carnac the Magnificent August 3, 2019 - 9:59 AM - 9:59 AM

@ Ricardoh

My comments are in fact on point.

No one forced anyone of these people to solicit the undercover police officer for sex. They, of their own free will, chose to attempt to engage in the crime of prostitution.

A normal person would walk right on by.

The people arrested have a propensity for engaging in prostitution and blaming their inability to control their proclivity on entrapment is simply their way and your way of not taking responsibility for their actions.

You may not engage in prostitution but you do believe in avoiding responsibility for your actions and you demonstrate it by your argument.

Everyone has free will. If people are so immature that they are incapable of controlling their illegal actions then they are too stupid to walk around free.

Aunt Barbara August 2, 2019 - 12:25 PM - 12:25 PM

Many wives will be filing divorce papers soon.

Pony August 2, 2019 - 2:28 PM - 2:28 PM

When I lived in Mpls/StP area of Minnesota, St Paul would publish the mug shots of the johns and hookers arrested the prior week. I will say most of the women arrested were not exactly hollywood versions of hookers LOL It was also how I found out the reason my boss had suddenly quit.

Noj August 2, 2019 - 2:40 PM - 2:40 PM

In the good old days, “John’s” full name, address and photo would have been published in the local paper.

Definition of publish
transitive verb

1a : to make generally known
b : to make public announcement of
2a : to disseminate to the public

Shame is something entirely gone from our culture.

Skip Smith August 3, 2019 - 12:04 PM - 12:04 PM

The problem with publishing the photos and names of those arrested is that being arrested is not the same thing as being guilty. What would you do for someone wrongly arrested who had their name and photo published? You can’t unpublish it.

jade August 3, 2019 - 1:25 PM - 1:25 PM

List all their names. It should be public information

Kevin August 4, 2019 - 6:47 AM - 6:47 AM

To those of you who are saying the names of the John’s should be published. Why do you care or why are you curious? Just wondering.

S August 4, 2019 - 9:50 AM - 9:50 AM

like any other crime; wanting to know who the criminals are is just human nature. Agreed, some wanna know to give support to their agenda, but other than that…

Chicken Little August 4, 2019 - 2:22 PM - 2:22 PM

I just wanna see if anybody I know was among the busted.
