only if “ALL” nicotine, THC, & CBD products are banned; otherwise, why bother….

Chicken Little July 30, 2019 - 12:15 PM - 12:15 PM

No.

Ricardoh July 30, 2019 - 12:19 PM - 12:19 PM

Why not stop selling french fries? We are going to open pot stores but are frightened of E cigarettes. The world keeps getting wackier everyday.

Dawg July 30, 2019 - 12:19 PM - 12:19 PM

We don’t need more laws to protect foolish people from themselves. The information about the pros and cons of e-cigs is out there and people can make decisions without government interference. Smart people make smart decisions, while stupid people make stupid decisions, the choice is theirs.

MadMom July 30, 2019 - 12:22 PM - 12:22 PM

I don’t know much about it but I have a friend who’s lungs filled up with fluid due to vaping. We almost lost him.

RJ July 30, 2019 - 5:23 PM - 5:23 PM

Really? I’d be very interested to hear more about this – as it would be extremely abnormal and pretty much impossible for that to happen with an ecig… I’ve used an e-cigarette for 5 years and have many friends who also have used them and never heard of anything like this?

KassidiG July 30, 2019 - 7:44 PM - 7:44 PM

Popcorn lung?

Silva July 30, 2019 - 12:29 PM - 12:29 PM

Are all the other handy COPD, emphysema, cancer etc., delivery systems to be banned as well or just one?

JazzMan July 30, 2019 - 1:49 PM - 1:49 PM

Totally different! One kills, the others help save lives.

Silva July 30, 2019 - 4:51 PM - 4:51 PM

I should’ve been more specific and said; such as cigars, cigarettes, pipes and pipe tobacco, chewing tobacco, etc., etc..

Randy July 30, 2019 - 12:37 PM - 12:37 PM

E cigs were shear brilliance by the tobacco companies. Here we are back to the beginning.

AnonZ July 30, 2019 - 12:48 PM - 12:48 PM
Clay July 30, 2019 - 12:54 PM - 12:54 PM

No, just make it a requirement that each store has a large mirror and each purchaser has to take a drag while looking at their reflection to see how foolish they look.

Mary Fouts July 30, 2019 - 3:10 PM - 3:10 PM

@Clay – That may well have just the opposite effect. It appears some people think it is cool and in style to vape. They actually try to be very ornate and artistic making designs with the vapor.

And yest, I do think vaping looks ridiculous. Kinda like sucking on a thick wooden tongue depressor.

Rob July 30, 2019 - 12:59 PM - 12:59 PM

Yes, they should have never been allowed to be sold.

Cy Borgensen July 30, 2019 - 1:06 PM - 1:06 PM

No, but as a condition of purchase of any tobacco of nicotine product, the buyer should have to take a whack over the head with a rubber chicken.

Pat July 30, 2019 - 1:55 PM - 1:55 PM

What Cy said.

Kirkwood July 30, 2019 - 1:18 PM - 1:18 PM

Useless (unfortunately) legislation. Sales by other sources, Internet, etc cannot be controlled. Even possession could not be enforced.

Mike Cody July 31, 2019 - 3:26 AM - 3:26 AM

They will try. They put Tommy Chong in prison for selling bongs
online.More laws mean more money from the govt and the fines they take in.I think there is a hidden quota that they need to make xxx amount of new laws every year just for revenue and fa la la

Bad Nombre July 30, 2019 - 1:33 PM - 1:33 PM

How many stores around here are constructed of “brick and mortar”? THEY should be banned in this seismically prone region!

Cowellian July 30, 2019 - 1:49 PM - 1:49 PM

If someone wants to stick a Personal Electronic Nicotine Inhilation System in their mouth, why should the government get involved?

linnie July 30, 2019 - 1:59 PM - 1:59 PM

LMAO!!!

Jojo Potato July 30, 2019 - 2:34 PM - 2:34 PM

Because the government gets involved when that person ends up in the hospital.

JazzMan July 30, 2019 - 1:51 PM - 1:51 PM

Yes. E-cigs are actually deadlier than reg cigarettes.

Doh July 30, 2019 - 3:58 PM - 3:58 PM

I never read or heard E-cigs are actually deadlier. I have talked with a few doctors who believe it’s a great way to get off cigarettes.

But if it is really more dangerous than ban them and allow smoking cigarettes everywhere like the old days.

Robert Lew July 30, 2019 - 10:55 PM - 10:55 PM

Cite 1 death caused by an ecig and/or vaping. I’ll wait.

Life Liberty And Property July 30, 2019 - 11:01 PM - 11:01 PM

Site your sources. The Royal College of Physicians have found these products to be less than 5% as dangerous as traditional tobacco products in numerous studies. This is the same Royal College of Physicians that defied common knowledge in the early 1960’s when their studies implicated tobacco products as a major detriment to human health.

Conscordejet July 30, 2019 - 1:55 PM - 1:55 PM

Yes

Abbie R. July 30, 2019 - 1:57 PM - 1:57 PM

I smoked one but I did not inhale !

Roz July 30, 2019 - 2:21 PM - 2:21 PM

Hummm,…Ban e-cigarettes, but not tobacco cigarettes?
This just sounds weird,…. wouldn’t be both?
Well,…I guess there will be a prop. something on the ballets soon.
Doesn’t matter either way to me,…just give me my coffee and I’ll be fine. 🙂

Rob July 30, 2019 - 3:45 PM - 3:45 PM

I agree – cigarettes should have been banned long ago, unfortunately, it is simply too big and too powerful of a lobby for that to be done.

But, IMHO, I think that that product shows that letting things like e-cigs get traction will simply make them impossible to stop.

And of course, we all end up paying the price in higher insurance costs due to all of the money paid by insurance companies to deal with the health fallout of those products while the companies that push them make mountains of money.

Simonpure July 31, 2019 - 7:50 AM - 7:50 AM

Roz…does that mean you finally did it? If so, congratulations girl!!!

Suz July 30, 2019 - 2:45 PM - 2:45 PM

No! I really think they are a good idea – especially for those of us who DON’T smoke. I don’t want people going back to lighting up disgusting cigarettes in my face again, figuratively speaking. E-cigs have been demonized because kids are attracted to them. Kids are going to do whatever the hell they want to do. But it ain’t rocket science. Stop making them appealing to kids, make them illegal under a certain age (like 21!) and make store owners accountable. Just like with liquor.

Dawg July 30, 2019 - 4:57 PM - 4:57 PM

It is already illegal to sell tobacco products, including e-cigs to anybody under 21 in California.

Suz July 31, 2019 - 11:32 AM - 11:32 AM

Dawg, but they are not enforcing the law like they do for liquor stores/sales. And e-cigs are really easier for kids to get and hide.

The Mamba July 30, 2019 - 2:58 PM - 2:58 PM

I don’t think so, they are helping a lot of people quit cigarettes and I don’t really need the government to protect people from themselves.

Carol July 30, 2019 - 3:09 PM - 3:09 PM

Why not ban televison. Thats more addicting than anything

Chester July 30, 2019 - 3:38 PM - 3:38 PM

Let’s ban Cigarettes first. Then go from there.

Reality says... July 30, 2019 - 4:33 PM - 4:33 PM

I’d rather they ban the sale of meth – tweaker population is just getting out of control here. Seeing it from Clayton down to Pleasant Hill.

Mike Cody July 30, 2019 - 7:14 PM - 7:14 PM

Banning cigarettes(listen now liberals) would be as successful as banning guns, but wouldn’t start a civil war,Nobody would abide by the law,and banning cigarettes would just start endless snowflake protesters cry all day that their pacifier makes them feel safe.Make 2 laws that would make their mind explode
:Make it illegal to smoke anywhere outdoors, then make it illegal to smoke inside a residential dwelling, just like a business.

Mike Cody July 30, 2019 - 5:24 PM - 5:24 PM

It is technically illegal to commit suicide, but they allow it all day everyday,by letting people smoke cigarettes that are a proven death agent. All that matters in America is money, not any person. To ban cigarettes, they know exactly what would happen-The border would be over run with cigarette smugglers.Anything we’re not allowed to have is always supplied to us by Mexico, the country that really only has a few laws, and none of them enforced.

Mike Cody July 30, 2019 - 5:29 PM - 5:29 PM

Tobacco should be treated just like cocaine.Have you ever seen a crackhead not be a cig smoker? Not saying smokers are drug users, but all dopers and drinkers pretty much smoke. And these are the ones that could never live without it and make the black market boom.

The Fearless Spectator July 30, 2019 - 6:00 PM - 6:00 PM

It’s not worth discussing let alone legislation. Life is a series of choices and some some folks are genetically predisposed to making poor choices. They will make the same poor choices regardless of how these items are obtained. Let’s focus on substantive issues.

Ilovepopcorn July 30, 2019 - 9:06 PM - 9:06 PM

The answer is absolutely YES.

Led July 30, 2019 - 11:02 PM - 11:02 PM

All those saying ‘yes’ should have your heads examined. Ban e-cigs but not actual cigarettes? Where is the logic in that? Youth vaping is a real problem and needs vigorous attention, but e-cigarettes have far less deadly crap in them than real cigarettes. The idea of banning their sale is just the reactionary fad of the day. Rule of thumb: if San Francisco decides to do something, you should want your city to do the opposite.

If the government had invented the e-cigarette in its current form, they would be touting it as the greatest public health development since effective vaccines. A nicotine delivery system that smokers will actually switch to, without all the other crap in it? Geez. No good deed goes unpunished.

Justifiable anger July 31, 2019 - 7:19 AM - 7:19 AM

I am more concerned about the pollution kicked up into the air by garden blowers, than ecigs, tobacco and even pot. Several times a week I have my personal air space poisoned by blowers. My house and screens are cover with toxic soot. Even though I shut my windows, it filters into my house.

Pied July 31, 2019 - 9:51 AM - 9:51 AM

No.

ranchgirl August 3, 2019 - 5:16 PM - 5:16 PM

Only if they ban all nicotine products too.
