Kentucky Fried Chicken on Arnold Dr. in Martinez has permanently closed.

A note on the door thanked customers for their support, but it did not give a reason for the closure.

In April of this year, Wendy’s on Alhambra Ave. also permanently closed.

“Another one bites the dust
And another one gone, and another one gone
Another one bites the dust…”

Good!
That store – in the KFC chain World – SUCKED! The employees were often short / rude, and the food absolutely sucked!
I don’t know if it was slow sales, and the chicken sat and over-cooked or what, but as far as a KFC (VERY low bar, LOL), it was terrible!

I think they deserve this ending. Not a great KFC. Maybe a better restaurant will move there.

Great. Another land grab. I bet another hotel is going in.

LAND GRAB? Not likely since KFC was located in a strip mall. Once again negativism wins over facts and reason. lol

a better restaurant is not the problem

as stated above its not the restaurant …its the staff

and the staff is hired locally …..sooooooo…yeah

No loss there. That wasn’t healthy food. That type of business perpetuates industrial agriculture resulting in animal suffering. Better off gone.
And no it isn’t cheaper than buying and cooking your own food.

I think even if the food is OK, I think it’s the way you get treated by the staff that really matters. Whether, a fast food chain, or a family restaurant, the least you could do is smile and act like you like where you work. I wont go back to places even if the food was good if the employees act like they hate working there, and feel upset, to have to serve people.

I hear a Massage Pallor is going to open up there.

A happy ending after all. 😉

KFC Is Terrible.
Need A Krispy Krunchy Chicken Instead.
It Ain’t Just Hood Chicken,
It’s Goooood Chicken!!!

When I worked in Martinez, I sometimes stopped there for lunch and never had a problem. I always thought that having more choices was better than having fewer choices. There used to be a Blimpie Sub Shop in that same strip that I liked a lot better than the Subway that replaced it.

I agree. Blimpies had good sandwiches at a decent price. Subway, not so much in my opinion

, did you ever eat at acme express in that same center? Trying to find someone else who has experience with it.

Kevin,
I must not have, I don’t remember it at all.

I used to eat at Acme often and I like it. Assuming it hasn’t changed in the last 4 years, I’d recommend it. Can’t remember exactly what I used to get, so no specifics lol

Random Task – trust me, they were not “locally hired” Martinez people.

Um – why do you say that? Have you seen Martinez people? LOL- Not exactly a high class area….gimme a break!

@RJ

Not sure if you’re trolling, or if it’s just ignorance – but the Martinez people comment was so ridiculous it was funny. How some people think is curious.

You say that as if “when you cross in to Martinez…” the people are ______ fill in the blank.

Go to In and Out or Chik Filet. Fast food employees managed well can be good employees – regardless of all else, no matter where they’re from…

Best

@ RJ yeah okay. As someone who was raised here and now raising her children here, in our amazing small community with active police and good schools I beg to differ 🙄🙄🙄🙄

Is this a good time to mention that Sunrise Donuts right there, has great donuts? I’m from Concord and I bounce around between Chicks and King’s mostly, but I discovered Sunrise Donuts once when I had to pick up a dozen for work. The only downside, my coworkers are now always demanding that I bring in some more of those “Martinez donuts”!

Sunrise Donuts are the best donuts in Martinez. Even the employees at Lucky across the street go there instead of eating their own bakery’s stuff. Sunrise is very popular among the folks in my office 🙂

I agree! Those are some really delicious donuts. I’ll never go back to grocery bakeries again.

Yep, Sunrise has some AWESOME Apple Fritters too!

@whome, thank for the tip. Always in search of a great apple fritter…

Sunrise has the BEST fresh donuts!!! I only go once in a while but they are super high rise and their crumb donut is the best ever!! I also go to Acme. No MSG and they have Sushi too!

Of course, I meant to say “de-emphasize” above.

The staff equals what you pay for and poor management. It does not take a Rocket Surgeon to figure that out.

Lol. Or, a Brain Scientist.

I liked that location and always got good service over the years..in recent years there were often “Homeless ” zombies dragging themselves off the side of Highway Four allowed to come in there and that WAS DISGUSTING.

I’d say “your wright”

Gast food places closong are the fault and only the fault of the franchise owner for that location.

These places have thrived for decades to suddenly close?
The main reasons a business will not survive is due to pricing but more importantly customer service and soeed of service.

I expect Burger King near the DVC Safeway to close next.
Then A&W next to it. Both due to customer service and soeed of service.

If you want a decent person to base good fast food service on…see the morning guy at the cash taking window at McDonalds across the street.

I did not know that. KFC, ok. Just doesn’t have the same friendly, Colonel Sanders feel.

This place was horrible. Service was subpar and food was no better. Once I went there and it was a little more than an hour until closing time. The employee told me they only had wings left. I asked how long the wait would be for the breasts/legs. She said they weren’t going to cook anymore cause the staff wanted to get off early.
The last straw for my wife and I was we went in to order and they pressure washing the floors. They had a gasoline generator inside the store! The whole place wreaked of fumes. We walked out and never came back.

I can’t believe it took this long to close. About time.

Sunrise donughts is amazing! I am a repeat customer.

I miss Chicken Delight.

Don’t cook tonight… call Chicken Delight!

Oh, Yeah! I have fond memories of Chicken Delight. When I lived in the barracks in Groton, they came around all the time. If I didn’t feel like eating at the mess hall, I could get a chicken dinner and a 50¢ beer from the vending machines, and I was all set.

It doesn’t matter anymore tho.

Silva ruined chicken for me…. forever.

KFC changed too much. They’re trying so hard to compete with Chick fil A, that they’re alienating their customers. If I want Chick fil A, I’d go there!

They no longer have corn on the cob, they no longer have honey BBQ sandwiches. List goes on and on.

The last place I remember that had too many changes to the menu was Quiznos, and look what happened to them.

I would love to see an El Pollo Loco either at this local or downtown at the old Wendy’s.
