I believe that the fire trucks were dispatched at about 5:20 PM. I saw one and the front end loader on Ygnacio Valley about 20 minutes ago.

Thought I smelled smoke but couldn’t place where it was coming from.

About 5 fire trucks just went down Marsh Creek.

Just heard a chopper do hard banking turn, pulled up flight radar 24 and saw
large response, at least four air tankers and a helicopter along with spotter /controller aircraft. Knew Claycord would be on top of the story, as usual.

No sign yet of wide body tanker.

Well we picked an interesting time to have a picnic on the mt.
How many planes are out and where do the reload.

2 tankers. Reload in holister.

Thus far air resources are out of Santa Rosa.

Contra Costa County Sheriff’s STARR 1 Helicopter can also be used to fight fires.

The have a multitude of air support going on, smoke billow decreasing.

6:37 two Emergency vehicles passed Pine Hall with one more just went flying down YV Rd . 6:40 Saw the three others earlier. Prayers for all responders!

Probably kids again!! Those darn kids!

Do you know what started it?

Uh oh,now you’ve done it..the regulars that need to disagree because you’ve targeted one particular group,,how dare you…you’ve just opened a can of worms. At least 3,possibly 6 “how do you know?’s” will be after you…. wait….

You’d be surprised at the disheveled guys wearing heafty backpacks that go trudging by here on their way to the Mitchell Canyon entrance to Mt. Diablo. They look for all the world like they’may have been “camping” for a very long time. If the fire was on a trail, or nearby a trail, they could have caught something and were getting ready to cook it for dinner when the fire got away from them. Wouldn’t surprise me in the least.

@Gittyup: These aren’t the 1800’s anymore. Homeless people do not catch anything. They go to the grocery store just like the rest of us.

These are the lone wolf variety, rugged outdoorsmen, homeless. They camp alone. And, there are lots of squirrels in the park. Even saw a friendly, fancy chicken walking around by the creek one time.

Two air tanker drops. Listening on Frequency 151.310 simplex to air tankers and air control. Ham radio lets you listen in. Beginners Ham Radio classes starting in August. Register at MDARC.org under education and training. Be ready for emergencies…

There are still choppers at 8:06…

I hope people remember to trim their weeds.

And take the forest like they do in, is it sweden?😉

I get it. I’m sure you meant “rake” the forest. HAHA
