Every Thursday from now through August 29, the Contra Costa County Clerk-Recorder office, located at 555 Escobar Street in Martinez, will be open from 8:00 am until 7:30 pm.
Summer is an important time for parents to obtain birth certificates for school and for those seeking documents for traveling. It is also a popular season for weddings.
This is the fifth year that the Clerk-Recorder has offered this special program, serving nearly 1,000 customers after hours since 2015.
“We’re looking forward to providing this unique program again. Residents, especially those who work during the day, have enjoyed the opportunity to get the services they need at a time that’s more convenient for them,” Contra Costa Clerk-Recorder Joe Canciamilla said. “It’s nice to be able to offer our services for an extended time, especially for busy parents as they get ready for the upcoming school year.”
Services provided during the extended hours include the issuance of marriage licenses, copies of vital records such as birth and death certificates, copies of recorded documents, fictitious business name and other professional filings. Marriage ceremonies will be available by appointment and walk-ins will be accommodated, if possible.
Document costs are available on the Clerk-Recorder website at www.contracostacore.us. For more information or to make a ceremony appointment, call 925-335-7900 or visit the website.
Jim and I got certified copies of our birth certificates online through VitalChek.com. You can also order death certificates, marriage certificates, etc. from them. They cover the entire United States. Processing was very quick. As I recall, mine (from IA) and Jim’s (from Martinez) arrived in a week or less.
Joe Canciamilla, one of the good guys in the political world and a true servant of the public.Thank you Joe.
