An Oakland man killed in a collision on westbound state Highway 4 in Concord Sunday night has been identified as 35-year-old Eric Vaughn, according to the Contra Costa County coroner’s office.
The crash was reported around 8:30 p.m. near Port Chicago Highway, California Highway Patrol officials said.
Vaughn was in a blue BMW M3 that crashed into the center divider and went down an embankment, landing on some railroad tracks. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
There was another vehicle involved, according to the CHP. That driver remained at the scene and was not injured. The crash and the subsequent investigation closed multiple lanes of Highway 4 for roughly two hours.
The CHP is investigating the possibility that drugs or alcohol may have played a role in the crash.

What a sad situation. We don’t know if in fact he was speeding although, it is likely that he was but a man also lost his life. This tragedy should be used as an example. None of us knows the right answer to stop this illegal street racing because you shut one spot down, they move to another. Such a tragedy. Prayers to his family and all that he left behind.
If you look at his Instagram, it says a lot about the type of person he was……” Was” being the key word here
