DIRTY DINING: Another Contra Costa County Cold Stone Creamery Closed Due To Vermin Infestation

Another Contra Costa County Cold Stone Creamery has been closed by the health department due to a vermin infestation.

According to the health inspection report, the inspector found rodent feces in the food preparation area of the Antioch Cold Stone Creamery on Lone Tree Way on April 10. The feces was found under the cold line, behind grates and in a cabinet storing single-use cups and cones at service line, the report stated.

In December of 2017, the Pleasant Hill Cold Stone was closed after a cockroach infestation was discovered by health inspectors.

Both Cold Stone restaurants have since been re-inspected and re-opened.

Thanks to Claycord for telling us where to avoid when eating out. And my stomach thanks you too. 😄

I second that, thank you!

P.S. What is up with all these places falling? It is the help or owners, or both???

Thinking about this logically, the most dangerous restaurants are the ones that are about to be cited, not the ones that just addressed a problem. Having said that, I’m never going to any of the restaurants on the list.

So, when the shown report says :
“Major Violation no insects, rodents, birds, etc” does the mean the food service business failed to have those critters?

Seems to me the report should state:
Major Violation: cockroaches, ants, and tarantulas present in cold case; birds and bird waste in and near cone storage bin; rat and mouse feces and carcasses in napkin dispensers; etc

I want the details about how bad a place is diseased, not a general sense that it has “issues”.

Ew. I was already boycotting the PH Cold Stone, guess I will add this one too. Disgusting.

I thought my chocolate sprinkles tasted a little different.

It seems that the rattlers are dining in the wrong venues. Free food at Cold Stone.

I am the small business owner of Cold Stone Creamery Antioch. Unfortunately we had hard rains the week before , ONE field mouse snuck in. Within one hour our pest control company eliminated the problem. The Health inspector came back the following a.m. and reopened the store immediately. We were closed for half a day. I am truly sorry this happened. As a small business owner, food safety is of the utmost importance.

What do you expect when you let kids run your business?

Not to defend Cold Stone but what do kids have to do with it ? Did they let the mouse in? ALSO, and be honest, how many of you have experienced mice in your house, and I stress HONEST!!!

Honestly, once in 40 years.

My daughter has been pretty sick this week with nausea, vomiting, fever, diarrhea. Thought she might have the flu, but doctor said it’s viral. We went to cold stone last Friday, and she got sick a few days later =(

Never mind the rodents, the hand-washing violation is quite disturbing. The rodents can be exterminated or prevented, what are they doing to teach employees proper hygiene and food-handling techniques?

I had lunch at the newly remodeled (and expanded) Greenery Restaurant at Diablo Hills Golf Course the other day….. wonderful! and everything is too new to even be dirty yet! I sat outside to enjoy the view and have a great lunch then retired to the sports bar/ restaurant inside to watch the baseball game & pound some beers with the guys…. lots of tv’s 12 or 15? I can’t say for sure.
Anyway, check it out! Really nice & they have 2 banquet rooms too… probably do a lot of wedding receptions. It’s right above Heather Farms park.

Raisins? HEY! I DIDN’T ORDER RAISINS IN MY VANILLA!

The health department needs to invent a new term; “Verminfestation”.
