Dirty Dining – New Lim’s Garden in Concord Closed Due to Vermin Infestation

New Lims Garden, located at 4340 Clayton Rd. in Concord, was closed this week by the Contra Costa County health department due to a vermin infestation.

The health department observed multiple rodent droppings in the food preparation area of the restaurant.

The health department found a total of 18 violations.

  • Minor violation – Food contact surfaces: clean and sanitized
  • Minor violation – Demonstration of knowledge
  • Minor violation – Equipment/utensils-approved; installed; clean; good repair; capacity (e.g. sinks, CO2tanks, etc)
  • Minor violation – Premises; personal/cleaning items; vermin proofing
  • Minor violation – Adequate ventilation and lighting; designated areas, use
  • Minor violation – Food safety certification and food handler cards: valid, available for review
  • Minor violation – Toilet facilities: properly constructed, supplied, cleaned
  • Minor violation – Garbage/refuse properly disposed; facilities maintained
  • Minor violation – Adequate hand washing facilities: supplied and accessible
  • Minor violation – Permit available
  • MAJOR violation – Compliance with shell stock tags, condition, display
  • Minor violation – Signs posted; last inspection report available
  • MAJOR violation – Proper hot and cold holding temperatures
  • Minor violation – Nonfood contact surfaces clean
  • Minor violation – Sewage and wastewater properly disposed
  • MAJOR violation – No insects, rodents, birds or animals present
  • Minor violation – Food separated and protected
  • Minor violation – Floors, walls and ceiling: built, maintained and clean

The restaurant was also closed last August after the health department found 11 violations, including a major violation for proper cooling methods, and a major violation for the proper disposal of sewage and wastewater.
