The following update on the incident at Nordstrom Rack is from the Pleasant Hill Police Dept.:

Today, after the Central County SWAT team had left the scene, Nordstrom Rack loss prevention agents elected to keep the store closed to the public.

The Pleasant Hill Police Department left an undercover detective at the scene to monitor the business in case Ramos had somehow eluded detection during the hours-long search of the building.

At approximately 11:45 a.m., Ramos lowered himself from the ceiling and fled through the back door of the business.

He was quickly tackled by Nordstrom Rack loss prevention agents and taken into custody by Pleasant Hill Police personnel without further incident.

The Pleasant Hill Police Department recognizes and thanks the courageous Nordstrom Rack employees for their quick actions and assistance in taking this dangerous individual into custody.

The Pittsburg Police Department holds the original arrest warrant for Ramos and will assume custody of him, as well as, any additional investigation related to the original charges.

How embarrassing for that swat team. But they don’t care cause they will wipe their tears away with the stacks of OT they for it.

How amazing: evade the SWAT team, get nabbed by Nordstrom loss prevention! That’s hilarious.

Paul Blart was on top of it.

I literally laughed out loud at WC

thanks for the laugh

The police and SWAT team knew what they were doing. They posted on social media releases that they believed the man had donned other clothing and escaped with employees when the store was evacuated by police The police may have said this on social media only to help flush out the suspect thinking he was safe. I am sure the K-9s followed his trail and they pointed out he went up in the ceiling.

Ricardoh September 28, 2022 - 2:36 PM - 2:36 PM

Fantastic !! So I was wrong he didn’t change clothes. My apologies to the police for thinking they messed up. Oh wait the police were not there and he was caught by Nordstrum employees. That’s even better. The police didn’t check out the whole building? Good Grief.

ALF September 28, 2022 - 2:38 PM - 2:38 PM

Reminds me of the old days where a Security Guard would actually hold people accountable, not just stand there and watch…

Badge1104 September 28, 2022 - 6:15 PM - 6:15 PM

….. I just hope that the loss prevention people they caught him won’t get in trouble and fired. Remember stores have orders for them to do nothing and just let everybody walk out the door with merchandise.

wcmom September 28, 2022 - 2:55 PM - 2:55 PM

Too bad LP from other retail businesses aren’t allowed to do this.

Yoyohop September 28, 2022 - 3:08 PM - 3:08 PM

Kudos to the security. Dude earned his $25 an hour and then some.

whatever September 28, 2022 - 3:16 PM - 3:16 PM

Wow, what an embarrassment for law enforcement. Imagine if he had dropped down and taken a hostage. Sheesh.

Recently there was a fire at a property I owned, the CCFD had an infrared scanner they used to see if there was heat or fire inside the walls of the building before they left. Hmmm…I have an idea that PHPD, CPD, CHP, CCCS might want to look into.

Two Wheeler September 29, 2022 - 9:36 AM - 9:36 AM

Actually, CPD had one of these.

whatever September 28, 2022 - 3:18 PM - 3:18 PM

…and don’t believe the reports they put out that he changed his clothes and fled with the evacuating customers. Clearly they made that part up to cover their lack of thorough searching.

The Mamba September 28, 2022 - 3:33 PM - 3:33 PM

I thought the detective interviewed earlier said they checked the ceiling? What a bizarre episode, glad he was caught.

Martinezmike September 28, 2022 - 4:10 PM - 4:10 PM

I believe a defective did check the ceiling.

Cellophane September 28, 2022 - 4:11 PM - 4:11 PM

This alleged rapist is an intelligent man.

The police are not to fault. Real police work is more challenging than ever since they are restrained with so many constraints.

I’m happy that the purported rapist is in police custody. I just want to know when he will be released from detention.

In related news, Nordstrom Rack LP fired for actually engaging with a human.

Lowered himself from the ceiling. Reminds me of that movie, Sneakers, where the Robert Redford character snuck into the secret office to steal that code breaker device. He hide up in the rafters in the drop ceiling.

The Wizard September 28, 2022 - 7:34 PM - 7:34 PM

In the celling all that time, beware of wet spots or a stinky smell in the future.

The Wizard September 28, 2022 - 7:36 PM - 7:36 PM

Ceiling…

Martinez Guy September 28, 2022 - 8:14 PM - 8:14 PM

Truth September 29, 2022 - 7:23 AM - 7:23 AM

Did you miss the big picture of the Pleasant Hill Police patch at the top of the story?

Two Wheeler September 29, 2022 - 9:38 AM - 9:38 AM

@Anderson…Reading is hard. PHPD, and actually Regional SWAT. CPD had no involvement. Signing up for that police academy soon? Show us all how it is done, Rambo

Thermal Imaging Camera – For those of you who have asked about thermal Imaging. Yes, thermal Imaging cameras can detect body warmth where it appears, water leaks in walls and ceilings (both hot and cold), roof leak originations, dead critters in walls/ceilings (cold), live critters and humans in walls/ceilings (warm), hot spots for smoldering fires, and hot electricity issues in walls/outlets that may cause fires.

The large thermal imaging cameras that can accurately do this are professional grade and very expensive. five to six figures. Flir is the professional standard brand. My husband has one.

Original G September 28, 2022 - 10:04 PM - 10:04 PM

Used FLIR at work to check bolted high voltage / high amperage connections and motor starter contactors looking for bad connections prior to their complete failure.

Have an older model for older i-phone.
Newer FLIR units are available to use with cell phones these days.

Schmee September 29, 2022 - 7:46 AM - 7:46 AM

Why can’t they tackle the animals who ransack stores?

nytemuvr September 29, 2022 - 9:14 AM - 9:14 AM

@Schmee…..You want to deny the animal’s families from the loaf of bread and gallon of milk they’re selling their looted goods for? That’s just cruel…..”No joke, true story”.

chuckie the troll September 29, 2022 - 7:46 PM - 7:46 PM

A good woodchipper, a strong set of hands and Fargo Rules would make this a rare crime.
