Contra Costa County Now Offering COVID Vaccines To Children Under Age 5

by CLAYCORD.com

County-run vaccination clinics in Contra Costa are now offering COVID vaccines to children ages 6 months to 4 years old.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Western States Scientific Safety Review Workgroup recently authorized pediatric versions of Pfizer’s and Moderna’s vaccines for this age group. Previously, only children ages 5+ and adults were eligible to receive COVID vaccinations.

The pediatric COVID vaccines come in smaller doses than the adult vaccines. Pfizer’s vaccine for this age group is a three-dose series – the first two doses are spaced three weeks apart and the third dose is given eight weeks after that.

Moderna offers a two-dose series with each shot given one month apart.

Fantastic news. It’s about time.

Paul June 23, 2022 - 11:23 AM - 11:23 AM

+1

My friend’s 4 years old has caught covid twice from pre k. I hope the vaccine minimizing the spread among the children.

Ricardoh June 23, 2022 - 11:33 AM - 11:33 AM

Paul The vaccine hasn’t stopped anyone else from getting it including Fauci. Curious how your friends four year old coped with covid.

Chicken Little June 23, 2022 - 1:01 PM - 1:01 PM

Paul,
How exactly do you think the vaccine would help to stop the spread among children (or anybody else, for that matter)?

Parent June 23, 2022 - 1:41 PM - 1:41 PM

Paul
How many times did your friends kid get the flu, cold, sniffles, pink eye etc from pre-K? All of those have the same chance of killing that kid as COVID. So are you and your friend worried about those ailments as well or just the media induced fear of Covid?

Paul June 23, 2022 - 2:05 PM - 2:05 PM

@ all

Sure, the vaccine might prevent the kids from getting covid but it sure hell increases the chance of survival if the kids get it.

Now most of y’all might argue about natural immunity, but how many of y’all know that your kids have the natural immunity? would you bet your kids’ life to see if they have it? Why not giving the kids the vaccines knowing that the vaccination increase theirs chances of beating the virus.

Parent June 23, 2022 - 3:17 PM - 3:17 PM

Paul

Chance of survival if your child gets it ??

Seriously?

Have you looked at the studies? How many under 5 year olds have died from this?

I would continue discussing this with you, ut it is obvious that you are spouting Fauci/Newscum so … useless and pointless.

bdml June 23, 2022 - 3:52 PM - 3:52 PM

@Paul

2 weeks to flatten the curve & 2+ years later you’re still singing like this. 98% recover rate but you go ahead like a good little boy and do as you’re told. How many children do know that have died from this? I don’t know of 1. Some people will never admit they are wrong. Hopefully your child doesn’t develop pericarditis or blood clots no guarantee whatsoever, but you do you

Addlepate June 23, 2022 - 11:26 AM - 11:26 AM

6 months…my God. You gotta be an idiot to alter your 6-month old’s body with this.

Ricardoh June 23, 2022 - 11:47 AM - 11:47 AM

That is why I asked Paul how his friends four year old coped with covid. If the child didn’t get that sick then there is no sense in taking a vaccine that doesn’t prevent you from getting the virus.

Concord Resident June 23, 2022 - 1:05 PM - 1:05 PM

Yeah, it’s not like they don’t have to get other vaccines when they are 6 months and younger.

Cyn June 23, 2022 - 1:40 PM - 1:40 PM

@Concord Resident
Yeah, it’s not like those other vaccines don’t work or anything.

Captain Bebops June 23, 2022 - 11:30 AM - 11:30 AM

We know by now that the vaccine does not necessarily keep people from getting covid.

On an aside: Dollar Tree is now requiring customers wear masks again. It’s a corporate policy as I asked because neither this county nor state have reinstated masks. I’m sure it will really help Dollar Tree’s business. 😄

Mac N Cheese June 23, 2022 - 2:16 PM - 2:16 PM

The vaccine does not keep you from getting covid. It’s like the flu shot . It keeps you from getting really sick from covid the way the flu shot keeps you from getting horribly sick from the flu.

bdml June 23, 2022 - 3:54 PM - 3:54 PM

That’s funny because the only people that I know that have gotten COVID multiple time & more severe cases are the vaccinated. Anybody that is unvaxxed has had mild cases and recovered in a few days.

Aunt Barbara June 24, 2022 - 11:28 AM - 11:28 AM

Dollar tree has no air conditioning and the employees are slow and lines can be long. I hold my breath and nose when I go in, which is very seldom. 🙁 Masks are a wise choice there!

Captain Bebops June 25, 2022 - 10:21 AM - 10:21 AM

I checked the Dollar Tree website and there’s nothing about it there. And today Alameda County lifted it’s mask mandate. I shop DT when there is hardly anyone there. I don’t think the checker even liked the idea either. Besides masks are about as effective as trying to stop a mosquito with a chain link fence.

Cyn June 23, 2022 - 11:51 AM - 11:51 AM

Same as masking a child, this is nothing short of abuse……plain, simple, and disgusting.

TraumaRx June 23, 2022 - 11:52 AM - 11:52 AM

As a Healthcare Professional I hope parents get their children vaccinated and boosted. Save a life and vaccinate and wear your seatbelt.

Cyn June 23, 2022 - 1:42 PM - 1:42 PM

Yes, get the Polio vaccine and booster……that one apparently works and is a true vaccine.

TT June 23, 2022 - 2:41 PM - 2:41 PM

Congrats on repeating what you’re told.

miguel June 23, 2022 - 3:43 PM - 3:43 PM

If it’s not preventing infection or transmission, what exactly is it boosting?

bdml June 23, 2022 - 3:58 PM - 3:58 PM

No proof whatsoever that the COVID shot saves a life. Show the actual receipts please. I would never subject my child to abuse like forced vaccination with a shot that has low efficacy rate that requires shot after shot that could end up with blood clots or pericarditis. No thanks my family has been just fine throughout this entire situation ignoring the horrible advice from people like you.

Anon June 23, 2022 - 11:59 AM - 11:59 AM

More sacrifices to Moloch.

WCFeels June 23, 2022 - 12:14 PM - 12:14 PM

1. The cohort of children previously infected with Covid getting the vax has not been well studied. Let that sink in.

2. As a cohort, children have the lowest risk with Covid infection and least likely to exhibit serious symptoms.

3. Covid seroprevalence in the US among children may be >75% by now.

Given 1-3 above, what is the benefit of vaccination for healthy children?

Anonymous June 23, 2022 - 3:50 PM - 3:50 PM

The Big Guy gets his 10% of every sale.

Paul.Barnes June 23, 2022 - 12:17 PM - 12:17 PM

This is akin to child abuse.

Yertle the Turtle June 23, 2022 - 12:26 PM - 12:26 PM

There is (according to the CDC CV19 fatality by age numbers) 0.00000 % chance of any children under the age of 12 that have died from CV19.
Let’s see what the stats are about heart attacks from young kids that have been vaccinated….

jprcards June 23, 2022 - 3:43 PM - 3:43 PM

And that comes from the New England Journal of Medicine which is one of the most respected and prestigious peer-reviewed medical journals…

But will the mainstream media listen or publicize their findings? Absolutely Not!

One really must honestly ask themselves why that would be.

Just FYI for all the people here with medical degrees. The outcomes of COVID aren’t just life and death. Long Covid is a real thing. People have had issues that will effect them for the rest of their life including amputation, brain damage, etc.

DB June 23, 2022 - 3:33 PM - 3:33 PM

Absolutely criminal.

bdml June 24, 2022 - 4:55 AM - 4:55 AM

@Theyellowranger

Are you actually using Wikipedia as a medical/science source 🤣😂🤣😂 Long COVID! I don’t know of 1 person in almost 3 years suffering from “Long COVID” selling fear that nobody is buying

Travis Shahan June 24, 2022 - 5:23 PM - 5:23 PM

There is no pandemic. It’s an IQ test and many are failing

chuckie the troll June 25, 2022 - 10:54 AM - 10:54 AM

From my observations on airplanes, in airports and traveling in general I can announce that the vast majority of people have voted that the pandemic is over. The masquerade is over, and the Kabuki Theater is closed.

BTW- almost every flight announced while we were in airports (6 total) were full or overbooked. The fearmongering is no more effective than the vaccine.
