Repairs are continuing on a BART rail that caused a partial derailment Tuesday, and trains will be single-tracking Thursday between the Pleasant Hill and Concord stations, officials said.

About 50 passengers were removed from an SFO-bound train after two trail cars derailed about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to BART. One person was taken to a hospital with a complaint of back pain, but no other injuries were reported.

The derailment happened after high temperatures on Tuesday caused a curve in the rail, BART officials said.

About 70 BART employees worked through the night to clear the scene, BART officials said on Wednesday morning.

Crews are continuing work on the rail overnight on Wednesday night and early Thursday.

Trains will single-track on Thursday along the Yellow Line between between Pleasant Hill and Concord, adding about 5 to 15 minutes of travel time through the area, according to BART.

So, Contra Costa has NEVER experienced hot weather? How stupid do you think We are? BART is old and needing of repairs. The maintenance funds are being stolen, probably to fund the extraordinary salaries of BART officials. I have observed the pay raises this last ten years. Concord Superintendents STINK!

Well, they have a 50th Anniversary Party to pay for, screw maintenance.

A 50th anniversary Party. They are acting like a bunch of thieves. They have to hide because no one votes for them. They certainly do NOT represent the majority. Nobody thinks banning gas through pricing is beneficial to the middle class.

CoCo County is solidly Middle class. No one thinks releasing felons is a solid way to keep us safe. No one cheers flash mob stealing from Nordstoms or Macys. I don’t believe Becton is legitimate.

If heat indeed was a factor then the entire rails east of the tunnel would be subject to the same problem. So why would BART risk another derailment on days that reach over 100 degrees. Common sense would say all the rails are in danger of warping.

.
There’s no such thing as a “partial derailment”.
.
Either it’s on the rails or it isn’t.
.
It’s not.

Seventy people worked through the night. They must have been getting in each other’s way.

The seventy people wanted the overtime pay to pad future pensions.
