My goodness, just a teen. RiP to the teen and condolences to the family.

So sad….I am so sorry…

I was hoping this wasn’t the case. That makes things all the worse. It was needless. I’m glad they caught the guy. He tried to run. I am heartbroken for that boys family.

My sympathy to family and friends.

So sad, so young. My heart goes out to the teens family.

.
Bummer.
.
May the boy’s family eventually find solace with his passing.
.
For this we pray.

So very sorry for his family. Tragic.

My heart is with the boys family. No words of comfort can take away the pain felt by such a loss. RIP young man.

My heart is with this young mans family. No words can comfort such a tragic loss. RIP.

My heart breaks for this young man’s family. May he live in your hearts through eternity.

Only the good die young … RIP kid

The truck that struck the teen was a tree service truck. The teen was pinned between the truck and the pole. So very sad. RIP

Healing prayers to the family and friends of the 16 yo.

May his memory be a blessing.

I saw the accident. This teen was just riding his bike. Several of us witnesses jumped out of our cars to help. The police and firemen got to the scene fast but unfortunately the boy was pinned and here was nothing anyone could do to save him. I saw him pass. This was a tragic accident. I want to know the boys name so I can speak it to the universe – he was being comforted by strangers in his final moments…..I’d like his parents to know that.

I hope, and I am not trying to be rude, that if your statement is true that you provide any and all pertinent information that you have to the police in order to bring justice to this young man and healing to his family. Know, as it has been posted here, that the driver is being charged with manslaughter.

His school posted the gofundme on their twitter: https://gofund.me/d0d1795d . Maybe you can reach out to his family through GoFundMe.

This is horrible. My heart goes out. RIP.

Heart goes out the the child and his family. Glad they arrested the killer. Drivers need to watch out for cyclists. They are NOT the only ones on the road.

@JazzMan….True but the laws of physics are still dominant, can’t change that, bicyclists beware.

,

It has been my experience as a bicyclist that many drivers believe that they are dominant over physics, thinking that once they are past a bicyclist the bicyclist magically disappears and they free to turn directly into their path.

Thank you Claycord for labelling this correctly as manslaughter.

So sad…praying for all involved. I wish people would be more careful as we were in an accident less than a year ago at the same intersection when someone sped up and ran the red light. Thank God my wife and I were uninjured, but could have had a much different outcome if the timing was off just by a fraction of a second.

Horrible – so sad. So sorry for the boy and his family. My heart goes out to them…

I am guessing speed was a contributing factor.

Downtown Concord is a nightmare for bicyclists.

But was the victim a bicyclist (person operating a bicycle) or a pedestrian (person on foot, possibly pushing a bicycle alongside)? The title cannot be inferred from the content of the article.

Yes, educate your kids, absolutely.

But you don’t know that this tragedy was preventable by the kid. You can do everything right and still get hit by a car.

My father got broad sided at that intersection about fifteen years ago when an illegal alien driver – no license, no insurance- blew the red light in a big SUV with eight people in it. Sent his car into a truck on his left and onto a corner of the sidewalk with the white fence. A woman happen to be standing their with her bike and she got knocked back into the fence. Fortunately neither she nor my father were injured but my father’s car was totaled. His airbags all went off plus he had his seatbelt on The SUV other driver was cited but with no insurance. My father later told us that the driver never appeared for his citation.
That is a bad intersection and people treat it like a race track.\
Our sympathy to the young victim’s family; a terrible thing

Some how Sara has made this is all about her…..

So sad! It’s a terrible thing for this child and his family. I pray for God’s comfort and peace during this tragic event.

Ken

I don’t understand what been legal or illegal has to do with it🤔 the legal status has nothing to do with reckless driving.

Or Sara could have just posted:
“Our sympathy to the young victim’s family; a terrible thing”

GHEEZE !

sidenote: My friend knows the young guy’s family, says they are good folks. Apparently there is a go fund page to help with funeral costs and such. When I get the link, I’ll post it here; if allowed (?)

Nana is correct about not understanding.

Ah…. Had I finished scrolling down… Thanks Patricia !

What a terrible thing to happen. My heart aches for the parents. It’s a call no parent wants to receive.

May his memory be a blessing.

R.I.P Young Man
We are all aware that this intersection has been a dangerous one for many years yet we continue to see accidents happen there constantly and nothing is being done about it to solve this problem.
I often see people speeding and weaving, and doing other aggressive maneuvers in front of the CPD, even with police presence, because drivers know there won’t be consequences.
I dare assume that the driver isn’t legally in the country.
As I said it before, I have noticed that lots of truck and SUV drivers are very aggressive, with complete disregard for others and safety. Case in point.

This is just really sad. The poor kid was just on the sidewalk an innocent child and because someone decided to run the red light he had to pay the price. It’s not fair he was to young it just breaks my heart. I can’t imagine what his parents ,family and friends are going through. Praying 🙏 for the young man

All you bleeding hearts need look in the mirror. It’s your agenda of open borders and party-induced chaos that has led to the blood we are seeing in our streets. Even the Karens are starting to get it now ….. more to come.

RIP and condolences to the family of the deceased.

All of the boulevards and major streets in Concord are being used as if they are a freeway. Constant speeding, traffic and encroaching upon pedestrians in crosswalks. Concord needs to put in a bypass to prevent these horrific accidents. Too many people, who do not live in the neighborhoods use these major streets to avoid the backup on the freeway during rush hour. If Concord was able to put in bycycle lanes; they, certainly can build a bypass to prevent and relocate the speeders and congestion from our local streets. May this young mans family be comforted during this terrible time. Rest in Peace dear young man😥😥

There is no reason not to have protected bicycle lanes on this major street. My sincerest condolences to the boy’s family.

According to the news reports, the kids was in the sidewalk when it happened.

I’d be willing to bet that the insurance company of the tree service will pay for this if asked by a local attorney representing the family of this boy.
I don’t condone chasing ambulances, but a local legal aid should reach out. CPD have a victim’s advocate to get ball rolling?

Stop victim blaming you POS

Crackdown on speeders in Concord.

I am constantly shocked and dismayed at some of the comments that are made in these forums. No matter what the article is, some will immediately spin it into an inappropriate and ugly political commentary of their personal opinion. Please know that to most people, it shows your ignorance and your inability to grasp the context of a situation. Just so you are clear, there is a local family grieving the loss of a child because someone chose to break the law. As a result, my deepest and most sincere sympathies to go out to the family and friends of this young man. I will pray for you and ask that God give you his comfort and compassion during this most challenging time.

So horribly sad that this youngster’s life was stolen from him by a speeder. Heartbreaking for his family and friends. That is a horrible intersection, with speeding and red light runners a constant problem. Where are Concord cops??? I RARELY see anyone being pulled over, but see speeders, folks weaving while looking at their cellphones with every trip through town. It’s like the wild west out there, and same for eastbound Hwy 4, Concord to Oakley, 100mph maniacs during non-commute hours, hellooooo CHP!!! Put Concord PD motorcycles at that intersection for a week and you can fill our coffers $$$, while saving lives. Get some CHP cruisers after the Hwy 4 idiots!!! Don’t know where all the officers are, but I certainly don’t see them. They’re all but invisible. I don’t get it.

@MGJ: They are all afraid of getting shot!! Lot’s of my friends are retired LOE; they keep in touch with actives, and say they are scared.
No back up from DA’s office or local politicians. Go Figure (!?!?)
