QUESTION: Besides gas, what is one thing that you’ve noticed that has gone up in price by a substantial amount?

Talk about it….

Housing. Tuition. And by a fair bit more than gasoline.

Electricity & water

Nothing………..If ya have to ask how much it cost, ya can’t afford it!

Food. The menu prices you see rising are not a mirage, everything has gone up across the board, even at the wholesale level.

I think the question should be…what has not gone up in price?

Food in general, but meat mostly. What’s troubling is that there are so many things that just aren’t there at all.

New and used vehicles. Was thinking about a new Heavy Duty Pickup. Found one I liked that was within 250 miles. MSRP was $76,000- Asking price from the dealer was $105,000. I’ll pass for now until this nonsense calms down. Old Blue will have to hang in there a bit longer.

I’m getting the transmission rebuilt on my 1992 F-250……..no way I’m having a truck payment that’s twice my house payment.

Beef and other meats.

Ammo

PG&E rates – sanctioned by the corrupt PUC and state politicians…

.
Meats.
.
… and then there is “shrinkflation” like liquid laundry detergent which is the same price but 8 ounces less in the jug.
.
Bidenflation!
.

Nope! Corporate profit-taking.

.
That’s an ignorant comment.
.

So… you’re telling us that it is Biden that is reducing the amount of laundry detergent in bottles and corporations are helpless bystanders?

First, what is wrong with corporate profit taking? They are a corporation; they exist to make profits by providing goods/services. Biden’s policies are indeed increasing the costs to corporations. In addition to paying people to not work, it becomes harder to find employees. Of course, Biden’s energy policy has contributed to the increase in cost of energy for all aspects of manufacture/service. Lack of supply means the cost of materials increases, from the plastic in the bottles, to the chemicals in the fragrance of the detergent, to the distribution to stores. Local stores/corporations have to make up the cost of all the stolen goods, as well as costs due to increasing security to prevent goods from being stolen. Thankfully, he was unable to pass an increase to the corporate tax rate.

I think you will find that companies have been finding ways to gouge customers since the history of companies.

I have noticed a lot of ” shrinkflation” with food products. Same price but less quantity, cost the same but doesn’t last as long.

YES!
Pays to keep an eye out for “One (or sometimes TWO) free with purchase of one” and/or other deals.

Frito Lay did it too…. thought I wouldn’t notice!

Everything. It’s not that our homes have doubled in value, it’s that the dollar has halved in value.

MEAT

Bacons

Groceries have gone up substantially. Yesterday I bought 20 items at the grocery store, and the total was $95.00. I thought there was a mistake, so when I got out to the car I went over the receipt, it was correct.
I presume most of the increase in prices have to do with the price of fuel. It cost more to ship the ingredients to the manufacturer, and it cost more to ship the product to the store…. Thanks, Joe Biden.
It will probably get worse when truckers in the US start protesting. I’m not big on protesting, but in this case, I like it. If it means paying more at the store, or going without for a while, it’s worth the sacrifice. The Canadian truckers are saying, enough is enough with the absurdity of the Left, and their asinine mandates, and I applaud them for it.
All of this could have been avoided if Justin Trudeau had listened to his fellow Canadians, and worked something out, instead of turning on them and calling them names.

Dawg, are you referring to Canada’s requirement that truck drivers wishing to enter their country must show proof of vaccinations against COVID?

There is no such thing as a vaccination against Covid. If your vaccinated you can catch Covid. If your not vaccinated you can catch Covid.

Antler, The Canadian Trucking Alliance and Justin Trudeau have acknowledged that 90% of Canadian truckers have been vaccinated. The truckers are saying it should be up to the individual, and not the government to decide. They want the Canadian government to remove the mask and vaccine mandates, and to terminate government digital tracking. They are asking Justin Trudeau to end his divisive rhetoric, when referring to the truckers as hateful Nazi’s and racist. The truckers want their freedom restored.

@Dawg
Your response to Antler is dead on, and I also support the Canadian truckers and will support U.S. truckers in whatever they decide to do. I’ve always hated it when BLM or Antifa or whoever blocked or shut down freeways here in the U.S. I never heard the outcry about it the way I’m hearing the outcry about these truckers blocking/shutting down roads. I’m still against any protesting blocking roads/freeways but the hypocracy on the left pisses me off like you wouldn’t believe.

I’ve started grocery shopping at Target.
Just order online drive over & let them know I’m there.
They bring it right out to me.
Good quality & much less expensive than supermarkets.

Bacon has gone up in price. In fact our store was completely out of the Deli Counter bacon today.

A big problem is building supplies. Lots of them have shot up in price, if you can find them.

Fertilizer prices are increasing, putting a further strain on beef, poultry and swine production. So those prices are going to rise and stay high for awhile.

Paper Towels. Went back to Costco to get them, better deal overall. Was able to get more than one pack, that surprised me.

Just about everything. I think a lot of these companies are price gouging.

Gas prices are extremely higher. Funny how we have the highest gas taxes and the government is spending trillions on the supposed infrastructure improvements and our roads are still crumbling. It is obvious all that money is being spent on other interests. Another reason to vote no on any tax increases.

Our family went for burgers, soft drinks and beer at a place in Lafayette. Great burgers and good selection of craft beer. Wife, husband, our two kids and one of their friends. Our bill after tax and tip was almost $160. 5 burgers, fries, 3 soft drinks, and three craft beers. So my answer is food and booze.

I went for my normal falafel sandwich at a deli there was always $7.75 today it’s $9.75.
I don’t blame the deli because their costs have gone up.
We are feeling the pinch big time.
We’re also mad that the president and the administration is trying to explain it all away when it is really them that caused it.
You know darn well if Trump was President everybody would be yelling at him. But somehow we’re really forgiving the Democrats and they ARE the cause.
High school economics class taught us that you can’t flood an economy with printed money and not have inflation.
I’m so mad that I will not vote for one Democrat in the next election. Not even for dog catcher🐕

Food of course, and the quality has gone down.

+ 1 —- and all of PG&E’s lying excuses… overflowing.

Black-Eyed Peas and Collards

Ground beef at Lunardi’s (grass-fed): $12.99 / lb.
It keeps going up.

In addition to all the items provided above, the cost of government has increased tremendously as well (bloated government-bloated spending). All the taxes taken from the producers used to keep the bureaucracy paid, all the taxpayer money collected to pay off the debt accumulated to feed the spending addiction of so many in government, now throwing the term “billions” the way we plebs use the term just “dollars.”

The increase in INTEREST RATES has lowered the value of bonds held by us older conservative savers.

Anything with a strong coupon has already been called. To see any yield you have to go way out on the curve. Further it’s probably best not to touch California Muni’s while Newsom is still Governor. Lord knows he screws up everything he touches.

Between taxes and inflation, our buckets have a pretty big hole in them. Worse yet, the current administration has no understanding of the laws of economics. Their belief we can spend into prosperity is going to put a lot of weight on the babies yet to be born. Sad.

Pelosi’s Stock Holdings.

The prices at The French Laundry have gone up by 20%. But you peasants wouldn’t never know. Now back to wearing your masks. Ha ha ha

menu prices at small to medium sized restaurants and healthy foods at the grocery store

Cat House services.

Yes, Things have gone up, but with some smart and strategic shopping you can limit the effect on your pocketbook. Trader Joe have not raised their prices that much. I noticed the almond I use to buy were up a couple of $$. However, found the same at Grocery Outlet for what I use to pay at TJ’s. Dollar Tree and 99 Cents Only is a good place for toilet paper, paper towels, cleaning supplies, toothpaste, tissue, stuff you normally would buy at CVS or Target. Dollar Tree raised their prices to $1.25, 99 Cent’s only did not. Grocery Outlet have a good selection of cheese, their eggs, milk etc. are well priced. I do shop at Safeway, look for sales. and fortunately, they have not raised prices on my favorite Chardonnay.

Besides all the obvious/ BOTTLED WATER

Drag slicks are way up.
