Tsumani Advisory Issued For California Coastal Areas Due To Volcanic Eruption In Tonga Islands

Due to a volcanic eruption in the Tonga Islands, the National Tsunami Warning Center issued a tsunami advisory for California coastal areas Saturday morning. People should avoid the coastal areas in the Bay Area, multiple local public safety agencies said.

Widespread inundation is not expected, the weather service said. The effects of the tsunami will hit the coastal parts of the Bay Area at different times.

People in San Francisco should move away from all San Francisco beaches, harbor or marina docks or piers, the San Francisco Department of Emergency Management said.

Likening the tsunami’s effects to “the worst king tide, but cycling many times over a few hours,” the Sausalito Police Department said to clear beaches, campgrounds and low-lying areas.

People in Marin should stay out of coastal waters until an all-clear is given, according to the Marin County Sheriff’s Office.

The East Bay Regional Park District said they’ve experienced a 12″-18″ water level increase at Eastshore State Park in Berkeley this morning (pictured above).

.
If we support “science”, then up to a two-foot wave or swell is a nothingburger.
.
Yet Berkeley evacuated their marina. … talk about an overreaction.
.
Hysteria!

ANYTHING to destabilize your life and occupy your mind while the takeover everything. Come on, 18 inches and the commies shut down the beach and kick people off peirs? This is what they do with everything to distract you from their crimes. Believe me, Paul and Nancy Pelosi are the only ones with a sunsmi coming straight at them. newsom still killed people in nursing homes and their still robbing us blind with toll roads and bridges. When will people say enough?

Folks, I’m no hydro-physicist or whatever, but a small wave height does not necessarily equal a small wave lapping about your ankles. This morning a seismologist on the interwebs said this is not a seismic wave so they couldn’t even make a good prediction. WERE it a seismic wave, a short wave can still be catastrophic. You have to consider the wave velocity and period, not just its height. Though this was NOT a seismic wave but an underwater volcano, advising people to at least not sit next to the ocean today seems prudent.

@Rolaids….Not to sound like the VP of the country but Google “1964 Crescent City tsunami” for all that don’t remember or were too young to remember the destruction caused by that tsunami. YouTube has a few videos of it.

Since when do we trust weather people lol. They get excited over the smallest amount of rain because when it’s nice weather they literally sit around doing nothing.

Not sure; but could it have been a nuclear mega bomb test done by China?
Not so hard to imagine these days.

In addition to Earth’s varying positions and varying distances from the Sun, undersea volcano’s also contribute to warming seas which also affect the weather. It is natural, normal. and undeniable.
