San Ramon Planning Commission To Consider Condos On Golden Skate Site

A plan to build 63 units on the property currently occupied by Golden Skate goes before the San Ramon Planning Commission on Tuesday.

The Windflower Fields project would occupy 3.57 acres of hillside property at 2701 Hooper Drive.

Applicant Land Advisors Organization has applied to build 47 townhouse units and another 16 connected, much smaller accessory dwelling units (ADUs), each occupying 260 square feet.

The 16 ADUs would be deed-restricted as rentals and offered at below-market rate to satisfy requirements for projects to have affordable housing components. The ADUs would also allow the project to qualify for benefits under the state’s bonus density law.

The plan consists of eight buildings and a small .25-acre park for residents’ use.

The San Ramon Planning Commission meets virtually at 7 p.m. Tuesday, at https://cityofsanramon.zoom.us/j/94221513865 (webinar ID: 942 2151 3865). The meeting can also be seen on the City of San Ramon’s YouTube channel, at www.sanramon.ca.gov/YouTube.

Shocking

@Tired. I’m not at all shocked. My advice is to make sure you re always well grounded. That, and never take a bath with a plugged in toaster.

That’s all they build anywhere nowadays and transit center luxury apartments. What’s there to discuss? Whether to call them condos or town houses?

This is what you get when your cities are fully onboard the “sustainability train” / UN smart cities agenda.

Clustered ghettos to destroy your property values.

This is san ramon. Why on Claycord?

Because a lot of us in the area used to skate there.

How can building of any residential project be considered when we don’t have the water or electricity resources for the current population?

They plan to make it up in volume……whatever that means.

It’s important not to bog these projects down with important questions for which they don’t have answers………

But, what about water conservation? Adding more homes, brings in more people, and more people use more water. Sixty-three units also means more cars on the road, and most families have two or more cars. This is one of many reasons I do not believe anything the government tells us.

Where’s the water coming from? Is EBMUD going to refuse this one too? (like they did in Danville)…. somebody in EBMUD has their head on straight

How can you guys be in this continual loop? Water shortages, climate change, energy shortages, pandemics…they have run these games for 100s of years. Why does anyone still buy in? I don’t get it.

There’s no water shortage. There’s no climate change. There’s no energy shortage. This is all ways of keeping you frazzled into voting for what they want. It’s such basic psychology and a little historical data.

The entire nearby area is service and retail, no housing. Is this really where we want to build residential? Once this happens the rest of the area will change.

Ripley December 6, 2021 - 9:08 PM - 9:08 PM

@WCreeker- the longterm general plan is for that whole area to become apartments and condos.
As everyone keeps stating the state has serious water and power issues in addition to seriously lacking public transport and yet we keep allowing more building….the public keeps pointing this out but our local and state government seem to be clueless to it

They should use that land to open an expanded version of the Wicked Eye.

I guess they were correct!

Sharifi’s Windflower Fields LLC, which was incorporated in 2007, is the property owner listed on the application for the 47-unit Windflower Fields Townhouses proposal that is currently before the Planning Commission.
