UPDATE: ALERT: Honda Van Stolen In Concord With Four Month Old Baby In Backseat

by CLAYCORD.com

A Honda Odyssey van with a four-month-old baby in the back seat was stolen from the Clayton Valley Shopping Center in Concord at about 10:15 this evening.

The van apparently has a peeling sticker in the back window.

Police are all over the area searching for the van and the child.

If you see a white Honda van that matches the description, call 911.

UPDATE: The van has been located off Ayers Dr. The baby was located inside and is safe. No suspect has been located.

UPDATE: A helicopter is on its way to the scene to help search for the suspect.

UPDATE: Police are searching for a mixed-race female with neck tattoos. Police are not saying if the suspect is the same person who stole a van with a baby inside earlier today in Pittsburg, but the description is the same. The baby in Pittsburg was also safely located.

Providing the public with license plate info would be helpful.
Sad that not even kids are safe from the continue rise of crime. Hopefully the little one gets found soon and safe. Hope that all those who voted for being lenient on criminals regret their vote and realize that children are being negatively affected and that next time they will vote to turn this mess around.

The Masked Poster November 11, 2021 - 11:20 PM - 11:20 PM

Was there not a parent, or other adult, in the van with the child?

Hill November 12, 2021 - 1:33 PM - 1:33 PM

@The Masked Poster. It’s very possible they put the baby in the car seat while loading .

Bella November 11, 2021 - 11:41 PM - 11:41 PM

I was just thinking that description sounds like the suspect from Pittsburg, then finished reading. I can see pretty far on my front security camera and heard the commotion and sirens, and saw a shadowy figure of someone walking without a dog across Concord Blvd walking East @ Ayers. Didn’t know of this report, only watch if they start to come down this private lane. They always have a dog if they’re walking there. Never heard a helicopter. Thank goodness the baby was located and safe.

So, what’s the tipping point going to be?

Agree!
You voters better wake up to what your leaders are trying to do to the country!

Mr B. November 12, 2021 - 6:48 AM - 6:48 AM

Uninformed voters will never wake up. They still think Biden is alert and doing a good job.

BORbeliever November 12, 2021 - 9:41 AM - 9:41 AM

And the Dems are importing even more uninformed voters every day! That’s how they like it. It will keep them in power forever.

“….woman with neck tattoos”.
Sounds like such a nice upstanding member of the community. Geez, second child & stealing of the night!

Dr Jellyfinger November 12, 2021 - 7:16 AM - 7:16 AM

Maybe she’s a picky kidnapper looking for just the right baby….
I’ll bet she does it again.

Badge1104 November 12, 2021 - 9:17 AM - 9:17 AM

. ..maybe she’s looking for a baby already neck-tatood! PS update: this morning they reported another car and baby stolen up in Sacramento area by two women.

nytemuvr November 12, 2021 - 2:13 AM - 2:13 AM

Must have been the “crime du jour” yesterday, it happened in Auburn(east of Sacramento) too…..https://www.abc10.com/article/news/local/auburn-grass-valley/car-crash-newscastle-baby-updates/103-bca72468-0e99-4fa5-b994-49107f0e104b

So one of 2 things. This lady is out kidnapping babies or she is a terrible car thief and chooses the wrong cars to take because they have babies in them.

Either way 2 babies were kidnapped and many years in jail is warranted.

I swear you can not even get out of your vehicle and walk around to the other side to get the baby out without them being kidnapped or you getting robbed.
You can not even unload your cart into the trunk without someone trying to kidnap your baby from the cart.
Just about every day we hear about another person being arrested for child pornography or sexual exploitation of minors including infants. What in the heck is going on. It’s time we go back to if you hurt a woman or child its life without parole.

Raiderette November 12, 2021 - 5:49 AM - 5:49 AM

Why was this person out and about at 10pm with a four month old? And why do people leave there keys in the car especially when there is a child in the car? And last but not least, why do people keep thinking they are invisible and nothing will happen to them?

Mop November 12, 2021 - 8:32 AM - 8:32 AM

I would never judge a parent for having to take their child out past 10. I can’t imagine that most parents would ever want to take their kids out that late but when you have to you have to (plus at 4 months old it’s not likely they have a scheduled bed time). Leaving their child in the car while they go inside is obviously unacceptable and dangerous but we don’t know the circumstances. And regardless of bad choices being made, I’m sure the parent never would have thought this would actually happen to them.

Led November 12, 2021 - 11:34 AM - 11:34 AM

It never fails, someone always wants to blame the victim. We have no idea what happened – maybe the perp mugged the mom as she was getting out of the door and took the keys off her??

As to going to the store at 10pm, apparently you have no idea what it is like to be a parent, lol. Babies don’t ask whether it is a good time to spike a fever and need some Tylenol. And they don’t easily arrange their sleeping schedule to make your life easier. Sheesh.

Raiderette November 12, 2021 - 1:28 PM - 1:28 PM

Hmmmmmm, just saw on the ABC7 news app that one of the cars was at La Piñata in Pittsburg while the child was in the car along with the keys while the dad was talking with someone and the van was getting Wingstop on Ygnacio Valley Rd. So again, shouldn’t be out that late with a 4 month old let alone leave your kid(s) in the car along with leaving your keys in the car. Clearly they were NOT getting Tylenol. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

chuckie the troll November 12, 2021 - 6:32 AM - 6:32 AM

Either this was a car-jacking, or else the parent left the keys and child in the vehicle unattended.

Neck tattoos seem to bring out the best* in people.

Is there an additional charge for stealing/carjacking a vehicle with a child still inside?

Chris November 12, 2021 - 8:52 AM - 8:52 AM

Wait…what???
If a parent leaves a child unattended in a vehicle, arrest the parent. I don’t care if it’s Atherton.
I couldn’t tell exactly what happened due to so little info from this article.
If it was a car-jacking, maybe Diane Becton might consider keeping the suspect in jail.

Simonpure November 12, 2021 - 9:59 AM - 9:59 AM

When officers arrived on scene, they were informed by the car’s owner, and father of the child, he had driven to the location and gotten out of his car to talk with another man. When he got out of the car, he left the vehicle running with his one-year-old daughter inside secured in a carseat in the rear seat.
The man was standing outside the vehicle within a few feet talking to another man. A few moments later, a woman walked up to the two men and asked if they had a cigarette. Both men stated they did not, and the woman began to walk away towards the running car. The woman then got into the car and began driving away from the business before either man could stop her.

Exit 12A November 12, 2021 - 10:17 AM - 10:17 AM

.
What is your definition of “unattended”?
.
According to reports, the parent was immediately outside the vehicle when the perp jumped in and drove off.

Sam Malone November 12, 2021 - 9:12 AM - 9:12 AM

People pay attention lock your vehicles when even moving around your car. Find it interesting that the man in Pittsburg left keys in car and engine running to talk another man. Drug deal possibly?

So all of you who voted in last presidential election how do you like what’s happening? Pretty sad and just the beginning if we do not reverse this lack of law and order and continued inflation.

It is hitting everyone’s pocketbook. Let the theivery escalate just keep ignoring. I do not think so!

Smith November 12, 2021 - 5:02 PM - 5:02 PM

Maybe read what happened before talking your joke of a statement…. they went to wingstop to get food. So shhhh…

Dawg November 12, 2021 - 10:42 AM - 10:42 AM

I’ve seen people leave their keys in the car while pumping gas. In a matter of seconds, a car jacker can jump into the car, start it, and drive off.

I new the girl from high school. From what I no she didn’t have the best up bringing and fell deep into drugs with her significant other who was not the best dude at all. What she did was terrible and thank god no one got hurt. She really needs help. Not to be thrown away behind bars and forgotten about. When I knew her five years ago she was sweet and just looking for love in the wrong places

Smith November 12, 2021 - 5:00 PM - 5:00 PM

Thanks for that bold faced lie….
She went to wingstop with father and left kid in car with keys running….. lmfao. Is thats not negligence idk what is known as that today….

Smith November 12, 2021 - 4:13 PM - 4:13 PM

So the parents both went into wingstop at 10:30pm. Police said they left keys in car and ignition running with a 4 month old in the car…? So is that not negligence for the minor? A mother and father both left vehicle, getting wings, at night didnt even think about the baby in back but left the car running with keys inside…? How is that not ridiculous?

Tsa November 12, 2021 - 5:17 PM - 5:17 PM

I heard the same. There had better be charges brought against the parents. They sound like they’re not the brightest bulbs in the pack and should not be parents!

Bill November 12, 2021 - 4:38 PM - 4:38 PM

I can’t understand how politics gets involved in all these conversations. Who knows if the kidnapper is Republican, Independent, Democrat or whatever.

Best comment. Thank you.

Ano November 12, 2021 - 7:15 PM - 7:15 PM

The parents you educate, have them take parenting classes and possible other things depending on each situation. We were not there.

The kidnapper and car thief gets significant jail time.

To the ones who are saying they are bad parents for having an infant out at 10pm, you do not know the situation. Maybe the baby had been at the doctors all day and the parents got food on the way home, maybe the baby cried all day and driving around settled them, maybe they needed to say good bye to a family member who would go to heaven soon , maybe they are terrible parents. The point is we do not know. 4 month old babies do not have regular schedules.

I am a great mom, nanny, and teacher. I have a degree in child development and I am sure that at some point in my children’s lives I was out at night when they were babies.

In fact my niece was a very difficult baby. She cried non stop so my sister and I often walked around the block with her. Sometimes it was midnight and she was screaming so we bundle up and walk around. It calmed her and also got my sister a much few minutes of silence. She is now one of the sweetest, loving, and caring teens.

We used to put our fussy baby in a car seat – then strap her on top of our running running washing machine. It works as good as a car (Just sharing in case it helps someone).
