QUESTION: Do you feel your age, or do you feel younger or older? If you didn’t know how old you are, how old do you think you would be if you had to guess?

Talk about it….

Oh believe me…I feel it

Chris October 12, 2021 - 12:16 PM - 12:16 PM

Well, I’m 56 and my husband is 61. I’m not sure what 56 is suppose to feel like, but I feel pretty good as long as I don’t stay past happy hour. Hubby says he feels like 75 when dealing with the IRS and kids, but only 45 when he’s on vacation.

Chris—

Thanks for the laughs. I can tell from your
comments that your brain is still young and
functioning well. Hope you stay that way for
many, many years to come.

No I don’t I look at people my age and count
my blessings.I feel like I did when I was in my thirty’s.And I’m over double that.

The Professor October 12, 2021 - 12:31 PM - 12:31 PM

My knees are jacked up. Every time the weather changes, I can barely walk. Today my knees feel like they’re 100.

Dawg October 12, 2021 - 12:37 PM - 12:37 PM

Except for some back pain, I’ve been feeling the same most of my adult life. It seems that people are looking and feeling a lot younger these days than ever before. When I was a little kid, and my grandmother was only in her mid to late 50’s, she was a little old lady with grey hair. Today, women in their 50’s look and act like they are in their 30’s. People today in their 70’s are looking and acting at least 10 years younger, and that’s a good thing. I even see people in their 30’s that look as if they are barely over 21.
Happy Columbus Day!

Dawg, A few years ago I came across a picture from 1948 from my grandparents 50 wedding anniversary, then I found a picture of my grandmother’s gravestone, which had her birthday on it, I did some calculations, and was choked to find out she was 71, same age as me at that time. She always wore long dark dresses, never wore make up, had her hair combed back in a bun, you are right we are getting younger, I believe make up, clothes and attitude has something to with it, as does life style. My grandmother had 8 children (and a few that died)in her defense she died when she was 89 and she didn’t age much from her seventies to the day she died.

Graceful October 12, 2021 - 12:42 PM - 12:42 PM

Dont know..never been this age before

Dawg October 13, 2021 - 1:21 AM - 1:21 AM

And you’ll never be this age again.

TPC October 12, 2021 - 12:47 PM - 12:47 PM

Every day…lol!

I look and feel much younger than my father at the same age. Grey hair and glasses make me look old, but if I get my haircut and ditch the glasses I might look 5-10 years younger. I had access to better nutrition and vaccines than my parents who grew up during the Depression.

Roz October 12, 2021 - 1:06 PM - 1:06 PM

Oh,…. in the stage of recovering,…. and feel older than my age.
But once I bounce back, I will feel younger than my true age.
Most think I’m in my mid 50’s,… Love IT! 🙂

e.bunners October 12, 2021 - 3:24 PM - 3:24 PM

Unfortunately, due to a hit and run accident that’s caused me 5 back surgeries beginning in 1997, I’ve felt MUCH older than I am for the last 20 years. I’ve been disabled for 20 years and just sit at home a lot.
I can no longer walk more than 10 feet without a Walker nor can I perform household duties. When I was in my 50’s I felt like I was in my 70’s and now that I’m in my mid 60’s . . . I feel like I’m in my 80’s. I feel as tho I’ve been cheated out of life and being able to really play with my grandkids.
Otherwise in my mind… I still feel 20!!

Roz October 12, 2021 - 4:49 PM - 4:49 PM

@e.bunners~
I have a totally understanding of what you are going through.
My younger Sister (54 yrs. old) was injured (back) in her early 20’s and has nerve damage to her neck, back, and left arm & leg. At one point, with my help, she was getting some wonderful treatment for a spin/neck P/T, and improved to pain levels from 8-10 to 3-4. But the P/T relocated about 100 miles away, and my Sister would not let anyone else touch her, so she is limited to what she can do now.

I do believe, with a good mine set, it helps keep us young.
Wish my Sister could understand how this would help.

God Bless You e.bunners.
Roz

“ANCIENT old” here. But I feel fine so long as I don’t lift too many heavy things when working in my flower beds. I do have to be very careful not to trip ever again, though!

Ricardoh October 12, 2021 - 2:20 PM - 2:20 PM

Reading the news ages me. The state is getting rid of gang enhancements because it is used more against the minorities than against Whites. You read this stuff and you can watch your hair fall out. Last week I hit 160.

hanne jeppsen October 12, 2021 - 8:22 PM - 8:22 PM

Turning everything into politics probably ages you. Why not just answer this question in the spirit it was asked, no need to bring politics into it, there is more to life than politics. Lightened up and relax you will feel younger.

hanne jeppesen October 12, 2021 - 8:24 PM - 8:24 PM

P.S. My reply was meant for Ricardo, I thought I posted right below his post, sorry.

Ricardoh October 13, 2021 - 9:06 AM - 9:06 AM

OK Hanne I haven’t felt good since the vaccine shot five months ago. Why the politics because we are about to lose our country. Look around you everywhere from the feds to the state to the cities ignorance rules. I’m not going to point it all out it is there for all to see if they want. I worry about what my grandchildren and their children will live in.

Old Otis October 12, 2021 - 2:23 PM - 2:23 PM

I identify as a 10 year old. As long as you “identify” as something you’re not,
it’s all good.

Jeff (the other one) October 12, 2021 - 3:02 PM - 3:02 PM

I think so, physically I feel about 30 years my senior, and mentally, I am about 30 years my junior, so it seems to balance out.

RANDOM TASK October 12, 2021 - 3:06 PM - 3:06 PM

.
No.
.
Age is but a number.
.
But I’m not about to engage in activities whose recovery would be relatively difficult given my current age.
.
People I meet think I’m about 15 years younger and in my early 40s.
.

Old Otis October 12, 2021 - 3:50 PM - 3:50 PM

@e.bunners
OMG I am so sorry to hear of all your issues. Nobody should have to go through what you are.
I will pray for you. Stay strong.

e.bunners October 13, 2021 - 1:09 PM - 1:09 PM

Old Otis….
I thank you for your kind words. I try to keep positive but some days I just can’t. Please take care of yourselfꨄ

Original G October 12, 2021 - 3:59 PM - 3:59 PM

Recently turned 70, most people are very surprised I’m that old.

About May next year will retire after 46 years with same company.
Asked why I haven’t retired yet, “ya just can’t get this level of entertainment on day time TV.”

After retirement will have more time for projects, this time my monthly allowance will be larger. This time it’ll be even better than my first childhood.

Unlike my first childhood, this time there will be
NO, adult supervision.

paranoid pablito October 12, 2021 - 4:06 PM - 4:06 PM

I feel like a million bucks…. All green and wrinkled.

Dorothy October 12, 2021 - 4:38 PM - 4:38 PM

My actual age went up a few days ago. But I am still 27 plus several extra months. I am also lucky not show my full age but starting to feel like I should turn 28 next time.

Golden years are made of pyrite, also known as fools gold. Celebrate that you are still here and be proud of any wrinkles or gray hairs. We earn them as we go.

The Professor October 13, 2021 - 9:10 AM - 9:10 AM

I would call my grandma every year on her birthday. I would always ask her how old she was. She would always answer, “29 and holding.”

The my grandpa would chime in, “She’s holding so hard that her knuckles are turning white.”

Kentucky Derby October 12, 2021 - 4:46 PM - 4:46 PM

I feel much younger than I am. In excellent health, young at heart and I haven’t lost my agility. I can still do handstands, cartwheels, backflips and the splits like I’m still a cheerleader in youth football, high school and college. I’m way past the age where I should be doing this, but it’s fun!

I do feel bad for those who feel older due to health, etc. It could happen to anyone and I count my blessings.

I quit all refined sugar and processed food in 2018 and got hooked on fasting and OMAD five days a week … Dropped 30kg and never felt so young in decades. Got rid of my diabetes and have the energy of an 18 year ol on prom night … If you gety drift.

Do I feel my age, not sure. I’m a baby boomer, I belong to the generation that said “don’t trust anyone over 30”, need less to say it was quite a chock to turn twice that age, which was some years ago.
I work, I’m active, I’m interested in looking my best, (meaning hair cut, some make up and fashionable clothing that are age appropriate) I exercise, but I can’t hike half way to Half Dome in Yosemite as I use to. A Danish female author wrote years ago, I think she was in her late forties then, “inside me is a young girl that refuses to die”. When I talk to my girl friends or other friends I have known for years, some since the sixties, and we talk about what we did back then and how life was, I still feel young. I try to do what I have always done and enjoyed as long as I can and not get defined by some sociality rules of what you are suppose to do or not do in your seventies.

e.bunners October 13, 2021 - 1:50 PM - 1:50 PM

Hanne Jeppesen:
I too did the half dome thing. I grew up across the bay and could walk to the beach on Skyline Blvd. with my girlfriends back in the late 1960’s. We would put backpacks on and go up and down the beach, in the sand and condition our legs for the upcoming school years.
We went to high school in Daly City and were in an alternative school called Wilderness School. Part of our curriculum was a Spring, Summer and Fall backpacking trip.
I shudder at the thought I used to carry 75 lbs on my back for 3 weeks up on the John Muir Trail. We also backpacked across Death Valley in the spring and along the coast down by Big Sur in the winter (much shorter trips).
I am thankful for those days, when I could walk; it’s quite depressing to see people older than I am briskly walking down my street. My fear has always been being stuck sitting idle. Luckily I can still drive and if it’s warm out, I’ve been known to roll down a high grassy hill, even with my fused spine. This is when I feel 10 yrs old!
I guess I too can live by the the Danish Female’s words..”inside me is a young girl who refuses to ‘give up’.

jjshawk October 12, 2021 - 11:10 PM - 11:10 PM

No, not really. Hopefully, by staying active, staying healthy, I won’t “feel it” for quite some time. I am so thankful that I didn’t listen to the People who told me to “grow up”,……well, except for the few minutes it takes to pay bills. Gotta pay for the toys, you know.

dinkydau October 13, 2021 - 5:28 AM - 5:28 AM

I took my socks off once and noticed skin at the top of my feet are wrinkled!, than I checked other areas and realized I AM getting old! Heck, I’m 74! whadya expect!. But I still work and do heavy lifting and work 8hrs a day.
However this ole body of mine may be 74, but my lecherous mind is still 24!

The Mamba October 13, 2021 - 9:11 AM - 9:11 AM

I still like to say that I feel like I’m in my 20s mentally, but the truth is I’ve matured and am much more comfortable with who I am now. Athletically, I’m not close to as strong or as fast as I used to be, but that’s ok.

e.bunners October 13, 2021 - 1:13 PM - 1:13 PM

The Mamba…Good answer…

Reekorizzo October 14, 2021 - 4:13 AM - 4:13 AM

Yes!…..I’m 50 and I work and sleep…..😴……that’s about it.
