Another power outage has occurred in Clayton.

About 3,400 homes are without power, according to PG&E.

PG&E says they’re looking into the cause of the outage, and say power should be restored by about 2 a.m. tomorrow morning.

Clayton likes to retain its rural character. This is part of the ambience.

Tired Californian October 8, 2021 - 8:20 PM - 8:20 PM

PGE is becoming more unreliable every year and they want to add more homes to a state with vital resources and shady power supply that seems to burn down more homes every year.

Not to mention the push for electric vehicles that need to plug into the grid

Tired Californian October 8, 2021 - 8:24 PM - 8:24 PM

Hey moderator why did you delete my post about PGE being an unreliable power source?

ClayDen October 8, 2021 - 8:30 PM - 8:30 PM

Yet they want all of us to drive electric cars??????? And they’re shutting down the last large zero CO2 emitting powerplant in California (Diablo Canyon)????? Who elected these morons?

Badge1104 October 9, 2021 - 10:51 AM - 10:51 AM

Who elects these morons? Other California morons do….. They’re more interested in transgender special bathrooms, birth-abortion rights, drugs legalization, easy on criminals, and freebies for all. It seems he could give a damn about anything else and wouldn’t care if the nation fell as long as they have their narrow ideology

Gittyup October 8, 2021 - 9:02 PM - 9:02 PM

Wasn’t off long. Only long enough to call PGE to report it, light a candle, put a battery in the radio, and find the flashlight. Went off around 7:30 pm. Came back on around 8:30 pm in West Clayton.

Fred October 9, 2021 - 9:10 AM - 9:10 AM

Just long enough for people to get online and complain about PGE

Derb October 8, 2021 - 9:05 PM - 9:05 PM

Just heard that the power is back on. That sure was fast, only an hour, when PG&E thought 6 hours. Also heard it was caused by an underground transformer fire.

PO'd October 8, 2021 - 11:38 PM - 11:38 PM

Same power outage area as the recent one a couple of weeks ago.Unusual.

Remember, when they give an estimate, they make sure there is a lot of time
predicted, so they will look good if it comes in under. It’s called “underpromise, overdeliver….” Common sales technique.

Homebound October 8, 2021 - 11:46 PM - 11:46 PM

No power…snuggles with my wife of 40 years.

Schmee October 9, 2021 - 7:49 AM - 7:49 AM

Homebound October 9, 2021 - 1:59 PM - 1:59 PM

@Schmee how is it lame? I’m proud of it. Your a Debbie Downer. People these days have no idea.

@Karen Thank you ❤️

Grump October 9, 2021 - 7:25 AM - 7:25 AM

Power has been out for 12 hours do far.. Great use of my 3 day weekend, and there goes all of my food. Thank you so much pgne!

Yves Harlowe October 9, 2021 - 10:08 AM - 10:08 AM

This is why we bought a generator a couple of years ago. It pretty much paid for itself during blackouts by saving the food in our refrigerator and chest freezer. So of course, the state legislature has a bill to ban small off-road engines, which includes portable generators

JDB October 9, 2021 - 7:41 AM - 7:41 AM

I’m out at Clayton Palms on Marsh Creek Road and our power is STILL out! PGE says it will be restored at noon. Same thing happened 3 weeks ago….SMH 🙁

Michele Peterson October 9, 2021 - 6:04 PM - 6:04 PM

That is crazy how some from Clayton were only out a few hours . Never fails Clayton palms mobile home community is always last to be restored . We did not get power back till the next day closer to 11am we are always treated like second class citizens ! Enough is enough with the power outages !

Bdpirate October 10, 2021 - 3:12 AM - 3:12 AM

Well Clayton Palms is end of the run power line me wise, of course your last to get back up. Your in a mobile home park not high on anyone’s list of priorities anyway..

Dr Jellyfinger October 9, 2021 - 7:50 AM - 7:50 AM

It’s OK…..Giants won.

Nope! October 9, 2021 - 8:29 AM - 8:29 AM

13 hours now and it sure looks like the same outage from several weeks ago. Grump is right. There go my groceries in here Kalifornistan.

Cellophane October 9, 2021 - 8:42 AM - 8:42 AM

Power outages are just PG&E’s way of saying thank you to all of the new regulations and fines imposed upon them.

As a for profit company, PG&E passes along the costs of restrictions and fines to the rate payers.

As a thank you for making them work a little harder, power shut downs are the best present PG&E can give.

Who else remembers in the 80’s and 90’s when any drop of rain would cause power to go out?

Same thing now, the cheapest most unreliable equipment on the marker is what your now getting.

Think you bill is high now?

Just wait until a couple more months for the inflation to catch up.

You ain’t seen nothing yet.

Old Timer October 9, 2021 - 8:57 AM - 8:57 AM

What is the next best power source besides a generator to use around the house during a power outage? Something to keep fridge running or at least have a few lights around the house to see where you are going. We have flashlights however anything more up to date? Thanks in advance.

Yves Harlowe October 9, 2021 - 10:10 AM - 10:10 AM

I dunno – a Tesla power wall and a solar system? Other than that, I don’t know what there would be besides a generator, either a portable or a standby.

Bdpirate October 10, 2021 - 3:09 AM - 3:09 AM

Go buy a standby generator, if you live in Clayton you can certainly afford one.

Dr Jellyfinger October 10, 2021 - 9:48 AM - 9:48 AM

That’s right!
Nobody in Clayton is poor or needy in any way.
Everyone has a gold plated bidet in every toilet and they all
bathe in Evian water while snacking on pate’ de foie gras or
caviar on buttercrisps….and they wash it down with Dom Perignon P3

Everyone could easily afford two or three generators.

Cyn October 10, 2021 - 11:59 AM - 11:59 AM

Dr. Jellyfinger, personally, I prefer Crystal with my pate’ and caviar.

Cyn October 10, 2021 - 12:41 PM - 12:41 PM

Make that “Cristal”.
